Bachelor of Communication/ Bachelor of Laws

Program overview

Bond's fast-track trimester timetable makes it easy to tackle a double degree. In fact, you can complete two degrees here in less time than you could graduate with just one at most other universities.

Our Bachelor of Communication / Bachelor of Laws combination can be completed in just over three years (10 semesters) whereas it can take up to four years to complete a single law degree elsewhere.

The combination of communication and law will help you develop a multi-layered skillset that will make you stand out to employers in almost any industry or work setting.

You will develop written and oral communication skills, a thorough and up-to-the-minute understanding of digital platforms, social media, and mainstream and new media, and an approved law degree for the purpose of admission as a legal practitioner (in conjunction with the Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice).

Studying these two in-demand degrees concurrently also represents a significant cost saving compared to studying the two degrees separately.

In addition to a professional communication option in either advertising, journalism, public relations or social media, you will have the opportunity to tailor the degree to your ambitions with a wide range of minors across media, communication, and creative disciplines. Taught by experienced communication professionals and supported by strong industry connections, the program prepares you to work confidently across diverse professional contexts, including roles in government, not-for-profits, agencies, corporations or as independent contractors or business owners. Our graduates win national and international awards across a wide range of communication roles, reflecting the evolving nature of professional practice.

The Bachelor of Laws prepares students for a career as a legal professional, both within Australia and overseas. An integrated skills and professionalism program is embedded in the degree and focuses on core legal skills essential to the practice of law. The Bachelor of Laws provides an engaging learning experience that challenges students academically and prepares them practically for a legal career.

Hear from our Bondies

  • My Bond experience is irreplaceable. I gained so much during my time at Bond - my closest friends, amazing work experience opportunities and the benefit of lecturers/tutors that cared about my success and development.

  • My experience at Bond was incredible! I lived on campus for the duration of my two degrees and from the moment I moved in, it felt like home. There was always something to do if I was not studying, like joining one of the great clubs on campus and meeting new people. When I first started at Bond, I was fortunate to meet a number of students who were partway through their degree and who have become friends and future contacts for my business.

As soon as I stepped on campus, I knew that this was the university I wanted to attend. It was both pretty and had a great atmosphere. The student culture is fun, positive, and lively. Additionally, it is amazing that I can complete a double degree in just over 3 years where normally it would take others longer at normal universities. It has hands down been the best experience of my life – Bond is amazing!

Hannah Goodman - Bachelor of Communication/LLB
  • In a world where communication, creativity, critical thinking and emotional intelligence are among the most sought‑after skills by employers, our communication degrees give students a powerful, transferrable foundation for their future. We prepare students for established professional roles and the opportunities emerging from digital change and new technologies, blending essential soft skills with the theoretical depth needed to understand—and help shape—the world around us. Within the professional specialisations, our classes mirror real industry environments: one day you might be developing a social media campaign for a client, and the next you’re shooting a mobile documentary or learning to pitch ideas with confidence.
