Spotlight on Giving Day

On 15 May, 1989, Bond’s first 322 students helped to establish Australia’s first private, independent and not-for-profit university.  Since then, more than 36,000 graduates have walked under the Arch on their way to successful careers all over the world.  Ahead of Giving Day on May 15 and Homecoming 2026 from 21 – 23 May, we’re throwing the spotlight on the students who have been supported by the generous donations that fund scholarships, student opportunity funds and research, as well as the alumni and supporters behind those donations.

For 254 gruelling days, Bonnie Hancock endured sharks, crocodiles, howling headwinds, hypothermia, excruciating pain, seasickness, and severe fatigue to become the fastest paddler ever to circumnavigate Australia, the first Australian woman to do so, and the youngest person to ever complete the feat.
