Am I eligible to apply?
The Student for a Semester program is designed for students who meet ALL of the below criteria:
- Local students who live on the Gold Coast, Brisbane and northern NSW, who can attend classes in-person throughout the whole semester
- Students who will be in Year 11 or 12 at the time of completing the subject
- Students who are currently studying at an Australian High School
- Students who are in the top 30 per cent of their year level at school. Your school career advisor will be asked to verify this during the application process

How much does it cost?
Student for a Semester subjects are offered at the exclusive rate of $250 per subject. Students may also be required to purchase textbooks and other class materials.

Can I study more than one subject?
Students may only undertake one subject as part of the Student for a Semester program. Please refer to our Student Handbook for more information.

When do applications open and close?
Applications for the January semester are now closed.Â
Applications for the May 2024 semester open on Friday, 22 March.

Become a Bond Student for a Semester
Go behind the scenes of the university experience before you make that all-important decision with our Student for a Semester program. While there’s a whole host of great ways to explore your uni options while you’re still in high school, nothing beats living it – attending classes, connecting with your peers, and completing real assessments and exams.
The Student for a Semester program gives high-achieving students enrolled in Year 11 or 12 at an Australian High School, the opportunity to gain an authentic university experience before finishing high school. You'll enrol in a Bond University subject and study in-person at our Gold Coast campus alongside university students. The Student for a Semester program will not only leave you with newfound knowledge about study and life at Bond, but you’ll also gain a deeper understanding of the university experience, and a potential credit towards your future university degree at Bond.

What you can study
One of the best parts of the Student for a Semester experience is getting to dive right into the study area that interests you, with subjects ranging from architecture to actuarial science and everything in between. Explore an area that relates to your Year 11 or 12 subjects and your future university degree – this could be your chance to gain valuable experience in a lab ahead of commencing biomedical science, or to learn more about fundamental legal principles in prep for the Bachelor of Laws. Â
Think of the Student for a Semester experience as a way to accelerate your knowledge and get a leg up before beginning uni, giving you the confidence you need to excel at your tertiary studies. A dream come true!
Who it’s for
The Student for a Semester program is designed for local students (Gold Coast, Brisbane and northern NSW) completing Years 11 or 12 at an Australian High School. Applicants must be in the top 30 per cent of their year level at school in order to be eligible to participate, and must be able to attend all classes in-person. Your school career advisor will be asked to verify this during the application process. You must also be available to attend on-campus classes once per week for the duration of the semester.
Make no mistake – this is a challenging program that demands excellent time management and organisational skills. You’ll need to balance your university work with any existing school commitments. If your parents and school support you to pursue the Student for a Semester, we encourage you to apply and access this unique opportunity.
