Bond Institute of Health & Sport

Explore Bond Institute of Health & Sport (BIHS), the home base for Bond students studying exercise and sports science, exercise and sports performance, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and nutrition and dietetic practice. Located just 4km from Bond's main campus, the Institute is immersed in a dynamic industry hub — nestled between Robina Hospital and CBus Super Stadium, and easy walking distance from Robina train station.

In September 2023, we opened the northern extension of the Bond Institute of Health & Sport (BIHS). The additional space is set to meet increasing demand for allied health and exercise science professionals, boasting world-class, technologically advanced, and sustainable facilities that will provide hands-on experience to Bond students.

A purpose-built teaching and training facility

The Bond Institute of Health & Sport is a world-class teaching and training facility, focusing on promoting healthy behaviours and lifestyles and attracting professional athletes and sporting organisations from all over the world.

With an aim to be recognised as a leader in inspiring healthy living through innovation, collaboration and education, the Bond Institute of Health & Sport houses the latest technologies and industry-quality facilities. The specialised teaching spaces and smaller clinical skills rooms are all equipped with modern technology and features that simulate real-life clinical environments, providing students with relevant, hands-on experience and knowledge.

The Institute is also home to health and sports science laboratories, used for research and athlete testing, and by health and sports science and physiotherapy students. It also features the High Performance Training Centre (HPTC), swimming pool, and temperature contrast pools, as well as an altitude room.

In addition to the elite athletes and Bond staff and students that regularly utilise the Institute’s facilities, a number of commercial practices operate out of the Institute, providing the local community with valuable health services and offering internship, work experience and networking opportunities to our students.

Facilities that set us apart

Biomechanics Lab

A world-class 60m Biomechanics Laboratory that incorporates in-floor pressure sensors and 12 integrated high-speed cameras to analyse human movement. It can be used to assist everything from recovery and rehabilitation for age-related conditions to elite sports training.

Work Play Lab

A paediatric play lab designed to be a joyful place for students to learn the value of play and leisure in occupations.

Activities of Daily Living (ADL) Lab

A bespoke, world-class teaching space for students to learn assessment and treatment skills in everyday environments. The ADL features an independent living unit with a domestic kitchen, bathroom and loungeroom. 

Kitchen Lab

Industry-leading custom teaching kitchen designed for 30 students across 8 cooking stations. the Kitchen Lab features an adjoining collaborative learning space and instructor bench with AV equipment to facilitate live cooking demonstrations

Simulation Ward

A true to life, twelve bed hospital ward that can be adapted to simulate a broad range of hospital settings from a rural outback hospital to a high-tech metropolitan hospital in Seattle, Shanghai or Sydney. 

Exercise Physiology Lab

Decked out with the latest equipment and technology, our Exercise Physiology Lab supports and develops practical skills pertaining to exercise evaluation and prescription, biomechanics, physiotherapy and more. 

High-Performance Training Centre

A world-class training, teaching and research facility, the High-Performance Training Centre (HPTC) is used by our sport and exercise science students and elite student athletes and attracts some of the world’s top sporting organisations. 

Physiotherapy Clinical Skills Space

Training to become a physiotherapist at Bond is an immersive experience built on the foundation of hands-on, practical knowledge and experience. Facilities housed within the Bond Institute of Health & Sport include specialised physiotherapy teaching spaces and smaller clinical skills rooms, all equipped with modern technology and features that simulate real-life physiotherapy clinics.

Getting to and from the Institute

Located approximately 4kms away from Bond University's main campus, the Institute is adjacent to the Robina Hospital, CBus Super Stadium, and Robina train station.

Parking is available to students and staff within the vicinity and surrounding areas of the Institute. Bicycle storage facilities are also available.
