Census dates

Census dates

Census date is one of the most important deadlines in your academic calendar. It is the official date when your enrolment becomes final for the semester or teaching period. After this date, you cannot add subjects, and withdrawals will incur full financial liability.

When is the census date?

For most subjects taught over the standard 14-week semester, census date falls on Friday of Week 4. Intensive and non-standard subjects have different census dates. The census dates for non-standard subjects can be obtained by searching for your subject in the Subject Search, selecting your subject and reviewing the ‘Subject Dates’ section.

What is the census date?

Census date is the point in each teaching period when all enrolments must be finalised and tuition fees paid*. No changes to program enrolment are permitted after this date, and no FEE-HELP forms will be accepted.

Bond University must capture information about the subjects in which each student is enrolled as at census date for reporting to the Federal Government under the Higher Education Support Act (HESA) 2003. This information is used to determine a student’s liability under the FEE-HELP program if they have deferred their fees.

Please note:

  • *The University may set an earlier payment date, but fees must be finalised by census date.
  • You will be fully liable for tuition fees if you withdraw after census date.

Why is the census date important?

All student enrolments at the census date must be included in the University's report to the Federal Government. It is clear from the HESA Act that students cannot enrol after the census date and you are fully liable for the fees for subjects even if you withdraw after the census date. Refer to Withdrawal from subjects for more information

It is therefore very important that you check your enrolment to ensure that your enrolment is right and that you drop or add any subjects prior to the census date.

To check your subject census date or other enrolment dates (e.g. Enrolment opens date, start date, last enrolment date, last cancellation date and last withdrawal date), please visit Cancellation, withdrawal dates and penalty information in eStudent.

Important information

  • Financial and academic penalties apply after census date.
  • International students must maintain enrolment that meets visa requirements.
  • Sponsored students should seek approval from their sponsor before making changes.
