Getting into Bond University

Navigating university entry requirements can seem a little overwhelming – but don’t worry, we’re here to make it simple. Essentially, the academic qualifications you’ll need to get into your chosen program will depend on where you’re at in life. Are you in high school? Have you completed prior university, or even VET study? Do you have professional experience under your belt? Your answer will inform your path to Bond.

Specific entry requirements for Bond programs vary, depending on the program, and can include prior academic results and your highest level of education completed. Some programs also include additional requirements (like a portfolio submission or interview) as well as prerequisite subjects - high school or tertiary subjects that you will need to complete in order to start and succeed in your chosen program.

I have completed prior higher education study

I have completed high school but did not receive an ATAR
Bond University considers non-ATAR students for admission into the following diploma programs:
The Diploma of Health Sciences and Diploma of Legal Studies are not eligible for an entry pathway as a non-ATAR student.
To be considered for non-ATAR entry, you must have:
- Completed Year 12 and obtained a Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) or equivalent
- Received a pass mark or higher in a minimum of three General or Applied subject (with a grade of C or better in Units 3 and 4).

I have completed vocational educational and training (VET) study

Bond University accepts VET qualifications, including Certificate IVs, diplomas, and advanced diplomas, for entry.

All applicants using VET qualifications for entry must be 18 years old or older at the time of admission, or must have completed a Year 12 certificate of education (Queensland Certificate of Education or equivalent).

Students under the age of 18 may be admitted if more than two years have passed from the completion of Year 10, or one year from the completion of Year 11.

Please note that VET qualifications are not accepted for direct entry into the following programs:

Bachelor of Actuarial Science
Bachelor of Biomedical Science
Bachelor of Business Law
Bachelor of Jurisprudence
Bachelor of Laws
Any combined program that includes a program mentioned above
Medical Program

School leavers with VET qualifications

If you complete a VET qualification in school and then go on to successfully complete Year 12 (with or without an ATAR), Bond will assess your VET qualification for admission. You will be assessed based on your highest completed in-school VET qualification, and must have also successfully completed Year 12.

If you have also obtained an ATAR, then Bond University will consider the higher ranked of the two qualifications (ATAR or VET) for admission.

I have work and life experience

There are also number of other entry options you can consider, including:

Sitting the Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT), intended for applicants without other university entrance qualifications and is administered by QTAC. Your STAT score will be converted to an equivalent university entry score and used in the assessment of your application.
Considering a bridging program, or undertaking a Bond University College Preparation Program or higher education diploma program.
