Student for a Semester subject selection
As a Student for a Semester, you’ll complete one full university subject when you’re still in high school. This is a unique opportunity to learn more about Bond, get used to the structure of university classes and assessment, and to test drive a study area before you commit to a degree.
The subject you choose should reflect your interests and future career or study aspirations. Remember that Student for a Semester subjects can be credited towards your full degree at Bond University if they align with that particular study area and program. Â
Please note that class times and subjects change each semester, and we cannot guarantee you will be placed in your requested timeslot. If a subject is offered during school hours, you will need to seek approval from your school to attend your classes.Â
Applications for the January semester open on Wednesday, 22 November and close on Friday, 8 December.

Global Citizenship
This subject aims to foster the thinking skills required to plan for and address the many global uncertainties in the world today. From delivering on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, to achieving transnational justice and human rights, the concept of global citizenship is key to opening humanity’s potential for achieving global solutions. Students develop reflective thinking skills to understand how their own actions contribute to situations of global significance and to reflect on the importance of being attentive to cultural difference. Global Citizenship is a topic that is relevant across all disciplines, and it is therefore suitable for students looking at a wide range of programs.Â

Design: Process, Methods and Mindsets
This subject challenges students to understand and use processes and models at the core of design thinking. Students are given problems that challenge even the greatest organisations and minds both in and out of business, often referred to as wicked problems. Students will demonstrate design thinking processes by framing a problem and choosing from a set of transdisciplinary tools and strategies.

World Architecture and Urbanism
This subject covers the history of world architecture and urbanism from the early days of humans as builders until most recent architectural phenomena today. Because the second semester subject, entitled Architecture and Urbanism of the Asia Pacific, focuses on that part of the world, this first semester subject is mainly concerned with architecture in the other regions.Â

This subject provides a thorough grounding in accounting with an emphasis on financial reporting and no prior knowledge of accounting is required. It covers the basic financial statements used in financial reporting, the accounting cycles, some contentious reporting issues, reporting analysis and the interpretation of financial statements.Â

Managing Projects Sustainably
This subject provides basic knowledge and skills required to manage a project or to be an effective member of a project team. It covers the nine functions of project management (cost, time, quality, scope, risk, communication, human resource, procurement and integration) as defined by the Australian Institute of Project Management, tracking a project through its various lifecycles from inception through to completion by the use of a case study.Â

Students are introduced to essential and foundational creative and technical skills necessary for successful careers in creative and communications industries. Students will learn the theoretical and practical fundamentals of visual, textual, and audio design and narrative, across multiple digital and online platforms. Â You will build a portfolio of creative communication pieces which will be added to during the semester and throughout your degree.Â

Screen Business - Producing Screen Content
This subject examines the film, screen and creative industries as an intersection of art, technology, business and government policy. In this subject, students explore the various creative approaches to screen media through the screening and analysis of Hollywood, independent, international and alternative film, screen and digital content. Health, biomedical and sports sciences
Explore the wide world of science with our Student for a Semester-eligible classes, each of which includes hands-on opportunities like labs and workshops.

Climate Change and the Future World
Understanding how the planet works has never been more important as a topic in tertiary education. A practical understanding of that and how it can affect humanity is vital. That knowledge will be required to combat climate change through all career structures. Understanding climate change is now as important as learning how the economy, the legal system and how our national and international society works because it will affect all these in the future.Â

Languages provides you with an insight into a fascinating world of human languages. The innovative subject prepares you for the challenges of language learning and gives you the opportunity to ‘taste’ languages which you can study at Bond University. Business Law
This subject is an introductory level examination of the law regulating business in Australia today for accountants, business managers and other non-legal professionals. The subject seeks to develop students' knowledge of the Australian legal system, their ability to solve simple legal problems involving torts, contracts, consumer protection, competition regulation, intellectual property and employment, and their knowledge of the laws associated with starting, managing, financing and closing a business.Â

Contemporary Issues in Law & Society
Contemporary Issues in Law and Society is an undergraduate elective subject offered by the Faculty of Law. This subject is not a technical law subject. It explores some of the social and contemporary controversies which surround law. The goal is to create cross-disciplinary debate on how to solve contemporary problems such as: the role of law as a social system; the impact of science in an era of human cloning and designer babies; freedom of expression, media regulation and hate speech; government regulation of social media; criminal sanctions and punishment; and gender issues.Â
