How studying abroad at Bond works

Our Study Abroad Program is available to eligible international students and comprises one or two semesters spent at Bond University on the beautiful Gold Coast. Run independently of your university or tertiary institution back home, subjects are paid for to Bond University. Depending on your program at your home university, you will likely be able to receive credit for the subjects you complete at Bond.

How to apply

Ready to embark on the experience of a lifetime in Australia? Here’s how to apply to study abroad at Bond University.  

1. Obtain approval from your home institution

Study Abroad students: Students may apply for the Study Abroad program through a Study Abroad Representative, their home institution's direct enrol partner program, or directly to Bond.  

Please check with the International Office at your home university to make sure you meet all of their requirements.

Inbound exchange students: Seek approval from your home institution and apply using their Outbound Exchange Student application process. Your university will contact Bond to nominate you to study with us.

If you are successfully nominated, you will be contacted by our office to apply to Bond using our online application. Please ensure to submit all required documents as requested on the form. 

2. Apply online and meet our entry requirements

It’s recommended that you apply for our Study Abroad Program or inbound exchange program three months prior to the start of the semester. Be sure to include the following with your application:  

  • Original certified academic transcript and grading scale
  • Passport
  • Proof of English skills
  • 6-8 subjects (courses) that have been approved by your home institution for credit toward your home degree

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS 

3. Receive and accept your Letter of Offer

Bond will assess your application to ensure your meet all academic and language entry requirements.  

If you are successful, you will be sent a Letter of Offer outlining any fees, health cover, and other requirements required to accept your offer. To formally accept your offer, all you need to do is log into our online application service, follow the instructions and pay any outlined fees.

Upon accepting your offer, you will be admitted into Bond and issued with an electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCoE), which you will need when applying for your visa.

FINANCE YOUR STUDY ABROAD SEMESTER

4. Apply for your visa

Upon receipt of your eCoE, you will be able to apply for a non-award student visa through the Australian Immigration Authority. A visa can take from four weeks up to several months to be granted. Please ensure you do not book your flights until your visa is approved.

Behind the scenes of study abroad and exchange at Bond University

International student exchange

International or inbound student exchange differs from our Study Abroad Program as it is run through a formal agreement between Bond University and your institution back at home. As a result of this partnership, you will continue to pay your tuition fees to your home university, rather than to Bond University. You will have a strong variety of subjects at Bond to pick from that should align with prerequisite or elective subjects and require pre-approval at your current university.
