Exams
Some subjects at Bond include on‑campus timed assessments (exams) as part of their assessment requirements. Exam formats, timing and weightings vary by subject, so it’s important to check your subject outline for specific details.

Exam periods
Bond exams take place during scheduled assessment periods:
- Mid‑semester exams: Weeks 6–8
Mid-Semester exams are at least 50 minutes in duration and 30% or greater in weighting. These exams are not Centrally Timetabled.
Deferred Mid-Semester exam applications must be submitted to Timetabling and Exams via the online form.
- Deferred Mid-semester exams: Week 9
Deferred Mid-Semester exam applications will be processed by Timetabling and Exams with information related to timing and scheduling of these exams then provided by your Faculty/Educator.
- End‑of‑semester exams: Weeks 13–14
End-of-Semester exams are 2hrs 15mins or 3hrs in duration and 30% or greater in weighting. These exams are Centrally Timetabled. You are expected to be available to sit exams on any day during the relevant exam period.
Deferred End-of-semester exam applications must be submitted to Timetabling and Exams via the online form.
- Deferred End-of semester exams: Week 0 (Wed to Fri)
Deferred End-of-semester exam applications will be processed by Timetabling and Exams and Centrally Timetabled.
- Supplementary exams: Week 1 (Thurs or Fri)
You will be contacted by Timetabling and Exams if you are eligible for a Supplementary Exam.
You are expected to be available to sit exams on any day during the relevant exam period.
The dates for exam periods are published in the Bond Academic Calendar. Exams listed on the official University exam timetable take place during these periods.

Exam duration and session times
End‑of‑semester on‑campus exams are typically:
- 2 hours 15 minutes, or
- 3 hours
Exams may commence at:
- 8:30am
- 1:00pm
- 5:30pm

Exam timetable
The Mid-Semester exam timing and scheduling will be provided by your Faculty/Educator.
The End-of-Semester exam timetable:
- Is usually published in Week 6, and no later than Week 8
- Includes your exam date, time and location
You can view the end‑of‑semester exam timetable to see all published dates, times, locations and exam durations below. Exam details may change after publication. Students are expected to check their exam timetable regularly, including on the day of their exam.
Students with a Learning Access Plan (LAP) will be notified by email if any changes affect their exam arrangements.
Deferred exam timetables for the current semester will be published no later than close of business on Monday of Bond Orientation Week in the following semester.
Some subjects also include exams or timed assessments that do not appear on the University exam timetable. If your assessment does not appear on the official exam timetable, follow the guidance in your subject outline or contact your faculty or educator directly.

Exam locations
Your exam location will be listed on the exam timetable. Students should familiarise themselves with exam venues in advance.
- The main exam venue is the Sports Hall (BLD10_2_01)
- Exams are held across multiple campus buildings
Campus buildings and rooms can be located using the Campus Map.
If you have a Learning Access Plan (LAP), your exam location will be emailed to you once rooms are allocated.
Preparing for exams
Before your exam, make sure you:
- Check the exam timetable for your correct date, time and location
- Understand the Bring Your Own Laptop (BYOL) requirements for exams
- Ensure your device is fully charged and compatible
- Ensure that you have the most up to date version of Respondus installed on your device if applicable for closed book exams. It is important to check this up until the day of your exam as updates can be required frequently. The Respondus Lockdown Browser Software is available for download from the test location in iLearn or www.bond.edu.au/respondus
- Review information and practice tests on Preparing for Digital Exams at Bond (available via iLearn)
- Bring your Bond student ID card
- Arrive at least 30 minutes early to allow time for parking and entry
- Check the permitted exam materials carefully to ensure that you bring the required materials to your exam
Please note:
- Students arriving more than 30 minutes after the exam start time will not be permitted to enter
- No additional time is granted for late entry
Exam materials
You should only bring materials that are permitted for your exam.

Permitted materials
- Your own writing instruments
- Your BYOL exam device (if applicable)
- Label‑free water bottle
- Calculators, texts, reference books and dictionaries where permitted, are limited to those specified for the examination by the Faculty and may be subject to further restrictions imposed by the Lead Educator. For further details see Assessment Procedure SCHEDULE F1.
- Electronic devices (including tablets, smart glasses/smart watches/pens and/or e-book readers/e-cigarettes) must remain in your bag, unless specifically approved by the Lead Educator on the day. All alarms and alerts must be switched off.
- All other watches must be removed and placed on the desk such that they can be seen clearly and easily by the Examination Supervisor. All alarms and alerts must be switched off.

Unauthorised exam materials
All materials taken into an examination venue shall be subject to the following checks:
- Staff will check that students have not brought into the examination venue any unauthorised material and if you are unsure, you should raise your hand so that it can be collected before the exam commences.
- Checking will continue after the commencement of the examination at which time such unauthorised material will be removed.
- Any unauthorised examination materials discovered after the commencement of the exam will be held and submitted to the University with an incident report, following which the matter will be investigated under the provisions of the Student Code of Conduct Policy.
