Try before you apply | Postgraduate Test Drive

Amidst an ever-changing, increasingly competitive workforce, professionals are turning to postgraduate qualifications to move their careers in a new direction, upskill or stay up-to-date and get ahead in their industries.

With the demands of work and life, committing to postgraduate study can be a big step for some students. Through Bond’s Postgraduate Test Drive program, students can take their program of choice for a spin before choosing to apply.

We'll curate your Test Drive to your unique interests and circumstances, but it can include discussing study options with an academic or program director, learning more about our facilities, or taking a personalised tour of Bond’s campus. The Postgraduate Test Drive experience can be conducted both in-person at our beautiful Gold Coast campus, or virtually for students not currently in Queensland.

Master of Business Administration (MBA) (CRICOS 108627A) student Leroy Phillips was exploring programs at a range of Queensland universities and decided to take a test drive before applying to study at Bond.

“[Studying] is obviously quite a big investment so I thought before committing to such an investment, I’d like to see what it’s all about and the opportunities Bond could offer,” he said.

“I was met by Kathie [Parkinson], who is my program director, she’s super friendly, she introduced me to [academic] Baden [U'ren] who took me through a test drive class.

“The rest is history!”

Domestic Recruitment Manager Vanessa Lea has been working with postgraduate students for more than a decade and she’s seen the growing demand for postgraduate qualifications firsthand.

“I think employers are really looking at postgraduate qualifications, even as a bare minimum now for jobs,” she said.

“We find that students are looking at that lifelong learning aspect, for professional development, a promotion and getting ahead in their career, or even to pivot in a different industry and move in a different direction.

“Postgraduate qualifications can definitely help students in that space.”

A postgraduate student’s experience at university is defined by much more than the degree. The value of a postgraduate degree lies in developing relevant industry skills, networking with peers and industry professionals, and gaining a global perspective.

A test drive allows students to experience the Bond difference for themselves.

“We offer a very different educational environment,” Vanessa said.

“Our classes are small, there’s a lot more mentorship and help from academics, and students will be studying with a lot of like-minded, passionate and motivated students in their cohort, so we do offer something special here on campus.

“The postgraduate test drive is a really great avenue for students to explore that. Whether it’s a Master of Architecture (CRICOS 078184J), a Juris Doctor (CRICOS 093923J) or MBA, they can come to campus, sit in on a lecture and really see what it’s like before they join up to a big degree.”
