Burleigh-based Classic Concrete Pumping is laying strong foundations for women in sport by partnering with Bond Bull Sharks Netball for the 2024 Hart Sapphire and Ruby Series.

According to Classic Concrete Pumping Operations Manager, Charl Herbst, the company sees parallels between the Bull Sharks journey and its own rise to becoming a genuine Gold Coast business success story.

"Our company has remained proudly committed to its local origins, and we like how the Bull Sharks are investing time and effort to nurture local talent from junior all the way through to more elite levels,” he says.

“Providing a local option for local athletes creates opportunities for talented young people to be the best they can be. We have tremendous faith in what Head of Netball Operations, Kim Boland, and Head Coach, Bec Stower, are trying to achieve at Bond from the ground up.

“We’ve long been associated with grassroots sport, particularly rugby league, and we’re extremely excited to be extending our interests into netball. Netball epitomises the important connection between community and sport, and this is something we value.”

Bond University Head of Netball Operations Kim Boland says she is delighted to welcome Classic Concrete Pumping to the fold.

“We are extremely grateful for Classic Concrete Pumping’s generosity. We take great comfort from the fact they recognise what it is we want to achieve and our reasons for doing it.”

“A place like Bond University will always attract student athletes and athletes more generally from far and wide, but there is no doubt that we see local development of locally sourced talent as the backbone of all that we set out to achieve for the young women who come through our door.”

Bond University Bull Sharks Netball competes in the Hart Sapphire and Ruby Series, the pinnacle of state-level netball. Bond also fields a development team in the Elite Premier League, enters U16 and U18 squads in the annual Netball Queensland State Titles, and provides specialist coaching to hundreds of junior level athletes at various clinics each year.

Classic Concrete Pumping was established in 2003 and is based in Burleigh Heads. These days the company proudly boasts 123 employees and operates a fleet of 60 specialised concrete pumping trucks out of five divisions – Gold Coast, Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Gympie and the Mid-North Coast (NSW).
