Where will your degree take you?

Today’s rapidly changing work environment requires employees to acquire dynamic and flexible skills. The combined Bachelor of Communication (Business) and Bachelor of Laws at Bond allows graduates to differentiate themselves by complementing knowledge and skill in communication and marketing with the opportunity of pursuing a career in law. 

Our graduates are now working with leading advertising agencies, as award-winning investigative journalists, in public relations consultancies, in legal roles, in marketing roles, in corporate training, and in other roles that reflect the evolving nature of communication practices. Altogether, the combined degree offers students a stimulating course of study and excellent career prospects.

A career in law

After being admitted to legal practice, you can work as a solicitor in a law firm, a government organisation, or a community legal centre.

Non-legal role

Graduating with a law degree provides you with an array of legal skills which include critical thinking, analysis, problem solving, conflict resolution and advocacy which can be transferred into any non-legal role.  This career pathway doesn’t necessarily require you to be admitted to the legal profession.  You can work in non-legal roles in management consulting, politics, journalism, human resources, investment banking and more.

Admission to legal practice

If you want to be admitted as a legal practitioner in Australia, you are required to complete a practical legal training program (such as the Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice (GDLP) or a traineeship) following the completion of your Bachelor of Laws or Juris Doctor degree. 

The accrediting body in Queensland is the Legal Practitioners’ Admissions Board (LPAB). Further information on becoming a legal practitioner in Queensland, including the LPAB’s English Language Proficiency Guidelines, is available from the Queensland Law Society here.

The Bachelor of Communication program is accredited by the Public Relations Institute of Australia (PRIA).

The Public Relations Institute of Australia (PRIA) is a peak body for public relations and communication professionals in Australia. It promotes high ethical standards in the public relations and communication industry through accredited membership, resources, training, and recognition.

Further study
