New stage for classical music at Bond

Orchestra MOU signing
Bond University Provost Professor Keitha Dunstan, Executive Director of Advancement Brett Walker, Gold Coast Chamber Orchestra Founder Anna Stoddart, and Orchestra President Derek Murphy.

Bond University and the Gold Coast Chamber Orchestra have joined forces to make classical music a bigger part of university life while creating performance opportunities for students and the wider Gold Coast community.

The organisations have signed a Memorandum of Understanding, formalising a collaboration that will see the orchestra become Bond University's Ensemble in Residence.

Under the agreement, the orchestra will perform a series of concerts on campus each year, and recitals at various major university events.

The partnership will also open the door for talented Bond students to audition for the orchestra each semester, providing opportunities for musicians studying at the university.

The collaboration builds on a long-standing relationship between the university and the ensemble.

Beyond performances, the agreement aims to strengthen cultural engagement across the university, giving students, staff, supporters and the broader Gold Coast community greater access to the creative arts.
