While our AFLW enjoy the view from the top of the ladder this week with a bye, it is up to our Men to show us what they have got as they enter into a grand final rematch against Coolangatta.

Round Six

Opposition: We make the trek down to Coolangatta this weekend to take on another quality outfit. We haven’t laid eyes on the Blues since our famous grand final win last year. What we do know is that they will want redemption particularly at their home venue in front of their very vocal crowd.
Challenge: They are a well-coached side who seem to rise when playing us. They have quality on every line and play a hard-edged contested brand of footy. It’s a well-used line although we will need to be at our best to knock them over this weekend and match their aggression. We go in with high confidence as we have been playing a very high-level brand of footy all season.
Shuffling: We shouldn’t have to make to many changes this week which is a positive. We may only have 1-2 forced changes which Coach Ford is happy about given the sides recent form and continuity at the selection table.
Ones to Watch: We should welcome back Kian Emery & Miles Enders into the side which are massive inclusions for us. Others who have been in a rich vein of form in recent weeks include Jed Kowald, Harry Ireland, Matty Smith, Jack Tilley, Fin Gray and Jack Graham. To be honest all those that have represented the club in the past few weeks have been outstanding for us.
Focus: When playing quality opposition like we are this weekend at their home venue it’s critical to get away to a good start and build early scoreboard pressure. Our ability to get the ball out of clearance and score has been our strength this year and this week will be a major focus. We know we can outwork the opposition; we must convert when the opportunity presents and kill off any run on, they may get given they can score quickly.
Final Word: As a group we are really enjoying our footy this year and can’t wait to take on a super competitive opposition. We look forward to seeing the development of our young chargers who have all gone to another level of performance this year and are playing a style that is hard to beat! Bring on Saturday!
