Professional biography
Originally from the UK, Perry has had a global career holding both academic positioning hospitality and tourism education as well as senior management positions in global engagement. His academic career has taken him around the world from Southern Illinois University (USA), onto Hong Kong Polytechnic University (SAR-China), Southern Cross University (Australia), as well as to both Taylor's University and Sunway University in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) and more recently to Breda University (The Netherlands) before joining Bond University in 2026.
Perry is an Adjunct Professor at MCI University of Applied Sciences in Innsbruck (Austria) and at Ton Duc Thang University in HCMC/Saigon (Vietnam), and also sits on the International Advisory Council of Ostrava University (Czech Republic). For 6-years he served as the Director of The International Centre for Excellence in Hospitality and Tourism Education (THE-ICE) leading its transformation from being an initiative of the Australian government, into being a global accreditation body. He has also served on the boards of numerous professional organisation, and has been the Chair of the Council of Australasian Universities in Hospitality and Tourism (CAUTHE) and also the President of ICHRIE - which is the international association for hospitality and tourism educators.
For his contributions to education and research he has been made a Fellow of CHME hospitality educators in the UK, a Fellow of THE-ICE accreditation body, and is a Fellow of CAUTHE hospitality and tourism educators in Australia. He remains as the Editor Emeritus of the Q1 and 'A ranked' Journal of Vacation Marketing (JVM) which is published by Sage, having been its Editor for 23-years. He also served as the co-Editor of the Journal of Hospitality & Tourism Education (JHTE). In 2023, he was the recipient of ICHRIE's Stevenson Fletcher Award for his life-long achievements and contribution to education and research.
