Description
Strata and Community Title is an elective subject in postgraduate programs offered by the Faculty of Law. Students will be provided with a practical study of common interest real estate developments with the emphasis on strata and community titles. This subject takes a ‘time-line’ approach starting with the development process and progressing through the administrative, lifestyle, asset protection and conflict phases of a project. The focus will be on Queensland legislation while highlighting similarities and differences with the legislation in other major Australian jurisdictions.

Learning outcomes
- Critically analyse the theory and practice of strata title development, governance and management in the Queensland context.
- Compare and contrast the major differences between the legislation in Queensland and other major Australian jurisdictions.
- Describe the technical nature of the legislation and the extent to which it is supplemented by the common law.
- Critically examine the types of conflict that commonly exist in a body corporate environment and the way in which those conflicts are resolved.
