Description
Media and Communications Law is an elective subject in postgraduate programs offered by the Faculty of Law. This subject deals with the law relating to communications media in the information society.

Learning outcomes
- Evaluate the philosophical foundations of free speech and controls on free speech, and critically compare how freedom of speech is or is not protected within Australia and internationally.
- Contextualise the competing normative claims of legal doctrines relating to information communication within the public domain.
- Substantiate application of doctrines, principles and rules of media law to contemporary legal challenges.

Students must be enrolled in a Masters level law degree OR LA-43040 Doctor of Legal Science (Research) OR be an approved Law Study Abroad OR Law Exchange student. This subject is not available as a general elective. To be eligible for enrolment, the subject must be specified in the students’ program structure. |
