Research interests

David R. Gallagher is a Professor of Finance at Bond University, an investment management entrepreneur, and a high impact global scholar evidenced by citations. Dr. Gallagher is the co-leader for the Round #25 CRC Program (Stage 2 bid) advocating for a 10-year commercially-focused A$100m+ Retirement Income Solutions CRC. He is a member of the Centre for Data Analytics.His research spans the investment management industry, capital markets, superannuation, and more recently, retirement solutions. He has published in top scholarly finance journals and the leading investments practitioner journals. He is a strong proponent of the translation of scholarship beyond traditional academic channels, and is a contributor to public policy and thought leadership in the media. He has consulted widely to industry and government and has acted as an expert witness on legal matters.Professor Gallagher was appointed CEO of the A$41 million UNSW-led Centre of Excellence in International Finance and Regulation (CIFR) in 2013 by then UNSW Vice-Chancellor Professor Fred Hilmer AO. CIFR was funded by both the Commonwealth and New South Wales Governments together with four institutions and six universities. He was Director of the Centre for Research in Finance (CRIF) at the AGSM, which provided high quality securities data infrastructure to academics along with the quarterly Beta service for its commercial clients. As an innovator he co-incubated the successful start-up firm Plato Investment Management (FUM today >A$15b) along with a small team that included the 'house of boutiques' Founder of Pinnacle Investment Management. He has co-developed new fund offerings for large institutions, including emulation and 'best ideas' investment processes.
