Welcome to the new-look Arch, a fresh take on Bond University’s alumni magazine. 

Since Edition 34 in 2024, we’ve been working to transition The Arch from a printed magazine to this new digital format. The change opens up many new possibilities, allowing us to present news and stories in more dynamic ways, including video, audio and links to real-time updates on social media. It also means we can better reach our growing international network of students, alumni and partners in a format that works just as well on your phone as it does on your PC. 

Of course, there’s an environmental benefit too: less paper, less printing and a smaller carbon footprint. 

We know some readers may miss the feel of a printed magazine, but we believe this new digital Arch will offer a more engaging, immediate and accessible experience.  

Over time we hope you'll come to see it not as a replacement, but as a meaningful evolution of a publication that first appeared three years after the opening of Bond University. 

The first edition of The Arch was published in May 1992. 

It carried news of the appointment of a new Chancellor, Emeritus Professor Harry Messel AC CBE, and welcomed former NSW Premier Neville Wran AC CNZM QC to the university council. 

The first colour edition of the magazine appeared in 1994.  

Publication paused for a while, and news was shared via other university outlets including the Bond Observer newspaper (1994-2000) and Focus magazine (2001-2004). 

Arch returned in 2009 as a dedicated magazine for our growing alumni community which currently numbers xx,xxx. 

Since then we’ve produced 20^th (2014) and 30^th anniversary (2019) editions, a tribute to university founder Alan Bond (2015), a salute to the foundation class of 1989, and covered the election of our first alumnus Chancellor David Baxby (2024).
