Description

Business complexity continues to evolve, where environmental, social, and governance considerations need to be integrated to meet societal challenges. This course is a pathway to addressing these complexities and developing a deeper understanding of the pivotal role business plays in society.  The sustainability of multinational corporations will be explored through readings, thought-provoking discussions, case studies, and assessments that have real-world applications. Students will review business from different perspectives to understand the diverse expectations of stakeholders and identify opportunities to lead organisations in meeting these expectations.

Learning outcomes

  1. Apply appropriate tools to evaluate an organisation's ecosystem, including environmental, social, and economic dimensions.
  2. Compare different perspectives to critically evaluate the purpose of business and its role in society.
  3. Evaluate key elements of an organisation's common functional areas and how they interact.
  4. Evaluate the role of key stakeholders of a business organisation including the expectations each may hold for it as well as the challenges and opportunities this can create.
  5. Critically reflect on one’s learning experience and create a plan for future application of what was learned.
