BCDP02-079: Screenwriting Short Fiction

Description

This subject introduces students to the art and craft of modern professional screenwriting. Students will explore the fundamentals of constructing screenplays for various forms of film and screen narratives. They will examine key elements of script development, from developing ideas, and creating characters, through to completing short-film screenplays, to professional standards and using professional screenwriting software.

Learning outcomes

  1. Develop a detailed story plan for a short screenplay, including characterisations.
  2. Write a screenplay using the correct industry technical format.
  3. Write a five-page screenplay for a short film or other screen-based project types.
  4. Interpret and apply feedback to improve the storytelling and writing of a short screenplay.
