ARCH13-141: Architectural Design Detailing

Description

This subject introduces students to architectural design detailing strategy. Students will learn to read construction documentation drawings and specifications to re-construct design details. Forums and seminars will scaffold student's understanding of how architects develop detail strategy in relationship to material, structure, construction sequence, statutory codes and sustainability considerations.

Learning outcomes

  1. Evaluate documentation drawings and specification with the ability to apply the knowledge using construction terminology.
  2. Demonstrate the ability to communicate through drawings, written specifications and model construction assemblies, the material choice, and detailing in relation to technical and conceptual objectives.
  3. Design and develop an understanding of detailing strategies related to structure, services, material life cycle and sustainability.
