Professional biography
Research interests
My teaching at Bond University spans undergraduate and postgraduate property subjects, with a particular focus on property development, development feasibility, property finance and investment, property funds and asset management. I place a strong emphasis on applied professional practice, using real-world development projects, financial modelling, feasibility analysis and industry engagement to help prepare students for careers across the property and development sectors.
A central focus of my teaching is helping students develop the confidence and professional judgement required to work with complex property decisions. My approach incorporates authentic assessment, experiential learning, industry-connected activities and structured feed-forward, particularly in technically demanding areas such as development feasibility and financial analysis. My scholarship of teaching and learning examines student self-efficacy, assessment design and the role of feed-forward in supporting student learning and persistence.
My property research focuses on development feasibility, investment decision-making, risk and uncertainty, and the financial evaluation of property development. My doctoral research examined decision-making during the pre-commitment stages of the property development process, with particular emphasis on uncertainty, risk and heuristic bias. I continue to research how property professionals make investment and development decisions, including the selection and application of financial feasibility measures.
My broader research interests include property finance and investment, residential sustainability and renewable energy adoption, emerging technologies in property and the built environment, and the application of artificial intelligence and digital technologies to professional practice. I collaborate with researchers across property, construction and the broader built environment and have published in international peer-reviewed journals across these areas.
Alongside my teaching and research, I maintain strong connections with the property industry and contribute to curriculum development and industry engagement within Bond’s Property programs. I have a particular interest in ensuring that property education remains closely aligned with professional practice while providing students with the analytical, financial and decision-making skills required for an evolving property industry.
