Professional biography
Louise is an Assistant Professor and Community and Public Health Domain Lead for the MNDP at Bond University. Louise is subject co-ordinator for Nutrition Issues and Priorities, Public Health Nutrition Practice, Community and Public Health Nutrition placements and International Nutrition Practice.
Louise is an Accredited Practising Dietitian, having worked as a dietitian in Australia for nearly 3 decades. She has worked in a broad range of sectors including, community and public health, department of health, nonprofit sector, industry, and private practice settings. Louise’s professional interest areas include adaptive capacity assessment in public health community interventions, which was the basis for her qualitative PhD research. She continues to develop as a qualitative researcher.
Louise is an ally with First Nations people’s, supporting their self-determination in the area health and well-being and is currently working on including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples learning outcomes throughout the MNDP curriculum. Louise is committed to sharing her extensive dietetic knowledge and experiences with students and helping them achieve their full potential on their journey to becoming a dietitian.
Research interests
I am interested in collaborating with public health project teams as a researcher to assess capacity development in community nutrition interventions, primarily as a qualitative researcher.
I am interested in collaborating with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples around food sovereignty, native bush foods and practice a strength-based approach in qualitative research.
