Professional biography
Professor Kirsty Forrest is Dean of Medicine at Bond University and Treasurer of the Executive Committee of Medical Deans Australia and New Zealand (MDANZ). Kirsty is a Consultant Anaesthetist at Gold Coast University Hospital and a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA). She is a member of the Education, Development and Evaluation Committee and a lead facilitator for the educator program of ANZCA. Her research focus is Medical Education and she is co-author and editor of several best-selling medical textbooks including ‘Understanding Medical Education: Evidence, Theory and Practice’ and ‘Healthcare Simulation at a Glance’. Professor Forrest is Chair of the Medical Education Collaboration Committee (MECC) of MDANZ. Prior to joining Bond as Dean of Medicine, Professor Forrest was Associate Dean, Learning and Teaching, and Professor of Health and Medical Education, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Macquarie University.
Research interests
An accomplished medical education leader, teacher, researcher and clinician with proven strengths and skills acquired during my career in the United Kingdom and Australia. I have been involved in medical education research for 15 years and am frequently invited as a facilitator and speaker on education and leadership at national and international forums. Research has been translated through co-authoring and editing several best-selling medical education textbooks.
My passion for medical education extends beyond the undergraduate forum into the graduate forum through my roles as member of the Education, Development and Evaluation Committee and a lead facilitator for the educator program of Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA). I work clinically as a consultant anaesthetist at Gold Coast University Hospital and am a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA). Clinical research areas include medical leadership education and patient safety.
