Research interests
My primary research interest is in the field of exercise physiology, specifically the interaction of the environment and the physiology and performance of well trained humans. The environment has a large effect on training and competition performance though these effects have not been well described in team sports (male and female) and for athletes of different ages. Additionally, I am interested in developing and testing training methods to determine the optimal training dose given the baseline characteristics of youth and female athletes. By determining the effectiveness of different training methods, I hope to help optimise athletic development for these cohorts which may improve health outcomes of the community as well as improve sport participation and performance due to potential reduction in injury rates and increased athletic performance of these optimal training methods.
