Research interests

My research interests span neurobiology, cell differentiation, and ocular health. My current focus is the continued development of a small-molecule, GMP-enabling protocol for generating photoreceptor cells from human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs),  with the aim to advance clinically aligned strategies that may ultimately support stem cell-derived therapies for Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) and other retinal disorders causing vision loss.

In addition to translational retinal research, I have a strong interest in ocular public health, particularly environmental and lifestyle risk factors affecting eye health. I am committed to projects that bridge basic science with population health to inform prevention strategies and improve clinical outcomes.

I welcome inquiries from prospective HDR students who share an interest in regenerative medicine, vision science, or ocular public health, and who are passionate about contributing to innovative, impactful research in these fields.
