Bull Sharks set for State Titles tilt

Plenty of familiar faces will fly the flag for Bond at the 2026 State Netball Titles to be held over three days in Brisbane from Sunday.

The hotly contested tournament sees teams from all over Queensland battle for a championship trophy and highly coveted spots in Queensland 17U and 19U National Championships 'pathway' squads.

Of 24 players selected across the Bull Sharks 16U and 18U squads, 19 have emerged through the Bull Sharks development programs.

Bond University Head of Netball says this was always the vision for Bond's elite netball program.

"We have always set out to create an environment that identifies and nurtures potential," Boland said.

"Many of our State Titles players first crossed our radar at one of our Bond Cubs junior development clinics and it's an enormously satisfying feeling to see these kids develop into athletes who can go toe-to-toe with some of the best players in the state."

"We take the responsibility of the physical and mental development of our players very seriously and we are super proud of what we've been able to achieve."

Bond University enjoyed successful campaigns across both age groups last year.

The U18 group won their way through to the grand final, and the 16U's finished third.

Boland holds similar hopes for this year's squads, but she's urging her players not to take anything for granted.

"Both our sides have a good mix of top and bottom aged players and we certainly like the way both sides stack up on paper," she said.

"But State Titles are so, so hotly contested.

"It doesn't matter how good you think you are.

"In the end it comes down to every team member taking responsibility for their role and doing what needs to be done to make their team better."
