Sporting facilities

Here on the Gold Coast, and more specifically, at Bond, we love sport. You’ll find our Bondies staying active and getting fit in so many ways, whether they’re obsessed with the gym or love to get out there and play club sports. Our campuses are stomping grounds for athletes of all sorts, including the elite kind – you will find Olympians, professional-grade players and world champs listed amongst our Bondies. So, it’s only natural that we’ve curated some incredible facilities to help anyone looking to play sport or stay fit feel at home.

The Sports Centre

Located on our main campus, the Sports Centre is a fully equipped gym that can be used for free by all current students. Featuring cutting-edge facilities, including cardio and strength equipment, free weights, a boxing gym, TRX and more, the Sports Centre is a hub of activity on any given day. A number of group fitness classes are held every day, and include everything from low-impact aerobics and yoga to boxing, high intensity training and more.

Our fields

Run, kick and jump at our competition-level rugby and AFL fields, located at Bond’s main campus. Fitted out with 200 lux-level lighting, our fields are supported with premium clubhouses that include change rooms, medical room facilities and a food and beverage outlet. Many local games across a variety of levels are played right here at Bond, making it a hub for sporting action.

Our pool

If swimming is your thing – whether you’re just looking to do leisurely laps, or are training hard to be the next Olympic champion – then our 50-metre swimming pool is the place to be. With eight lanes and depths from 1.2m to 3.8m, the pool is ideal for elite swimming and hosts a variety of swimmers from around the state for meets, competitions and training.

Our courts

As a tennis or squash player, you will have complete freedom to hit a ball around on one of our dedicated courts. We have five on-campus tennis courts (three hard, two synthetic grass) equipped with floodlighting for games at all hours of the day. If squash is more up your alley, there are two fully air-conditioned glass-back squash courts with fibro composite flooring attached to the Sports Centre.

Other facilities

Our sporting facilities are truly unmatched, and we are committed to providing a comprehensive sporting environment for as many students as possible – which is why you will find other facilities across a range of sports on campus. Have a fun game with friends, or practise for the big leagues, at our two beach volleyball courts. Head into the boxing circuit training room at the Sports Centre to spar and practise your left hook, or visit the golf and cricket practice nets to train and work on your swing.

Esports at Bond

Whether you’re an aspiring professional gamer, or just enjoy the occasional tournament with friends, our innovative Esports Hub is the place to be! Equipped with 12 high-performance gaming machines and a training and coaching space for performance analysis, this space facilitates elite gaming and is supported by the University’s partnership with professional esports club, the Chiefs.

This addition to our elite sports roster means that a huge variety of modern sports are not just supported, but celebrated here at Bond. Our partnership with The Chiefs ensures that students who are competing at a high level are able to access the facilities to train, and this collaboration has also led to numerous internships and work experience placements that allow our Bondies to better understand the inner workings of a professional esports club.
