The Abedian School of Architecture Lecture Series launched in 2013, and has since hosted an impressive guest list of both Australian and internationally notable architecture experts, bringing some of the world's most creative and talented architects to Bond University to share their insights with our community.

This semester, we are pleased to welcome three presenters, including Kevin O'Brien from BVN, a Brisbane-based architect whose work spans education, commercial and public spaces, with major projects such as Atlassian Central in Sydney and the new ATO offices in Canberra. We will also hear from Lachlan Nielsen and Morgan Jenkins from award-wining Brisbane studio Nielsen Jenkins, known for their context-driven approach to residential and commercial architecture across Australia.

Introducing Our Speakers

Kevin O'Brien | BVN

Kevin Oโ€™Brien is an architect based in Brisbane. He is a Principal at BVN, and an Adjunct Professor at the University of Sydney. He has worked on recently completed projects at Brisbane South State Secondary College and Yarilla Place in Coffs Harbour. Current projects under construction include Atlassian Central in Sydney and the new ATO offices in Canberra. Kevin is interested in the idea of architecture as the exception in the city.

Lachlan Nielsen & Morgan Jenkins | Nielsen Jenkins

Nielsen Jenkins is an award-winning architectural studio from Brisbane, Australia. The work of the practice explores key ideas of landscape, subtraction, connections, and materiality in order to achieve outcomes that are responsive to context and place. These explorations form the basis of all its work, from residential and commercial architecture to furniture construction and design. The practice's work has been published and awarded in Australia and internationally. Current projects are underway in suburban, coastal & rural sites in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria.
