Guest Lecturer: Clare Kennedy - Director, Five Mile Radius Architecture

About the speaker
Clare Kennedy is an Australian architect and interior designer based in Brisbane, Queensland. Her interest is in Australian design, craft and culture, local materials, healthy spaces, and environmental design. Clare gained 8 years of experience in architectural practices worldwide before beginning her own consultancy in 2017. Recent clients include Swop Clothing Exchange, Florence Cafe, Abode Ahangama, Art Ichol and Artisans Gallery. In 2024, Clare was named the recipient of the 2024 Dunbar Fellowship, recognising her innovative research into circular design practices that aim to redefine Australian architecture.
Clare is the founder and director of Brisbane-based design studio, Five Mile Radius. Clare’s practice reflects her passion for sustainable design, as she pioneers the use of locally sourced building materials in her bid to positively impact the global economy. Responding to the growing need for self-sufficient supply chains, Five Mile Radius partners with local suppliers to shine a spotlight on Australian manufacturing. Alongside her practice she is involved in academia, holding various lecturing positions with universities in Australia and abroad. Clare regularly publishes, exhibits and presents her research work or and aids other organisations in the strategic development of their sustainability goals.
