Insurance fraud accounts for billions of dollars in lost funds each year, affecting both insurance companies and the additional premiums that policyholders are charged. Finding ways to detect and respond to insurance fraud is crucial. 

Join us for a panel discussion facilitated by Professor Gepp about insurance fraud detection and the role of data analytics, artificial intelligence, money laundering and other technological advancements.

Speakers

Adrian Gepp

Professor Adrian Gepp is a Professor of Data Analytics at Bond Business School and the Centre for Data Analytics at Bond University. An award-winning educator and researcher, his work applies advanced statistical and machine learning techniques to economic and social challenges, including fraud detection. He has led more than $2 million in industry-funded research projects with partners such as KPMG and the City of Gold Coast.

Lucy Ward

Lucy Ward is an Associate of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia and a Bond University actuarial science graduate. She has over nine years’ experience in the general insurance industry and is currently General Manager (Data & Design) at Auto & General Australia. Her expertise spans data analytics, machine learning, and insurance fraud.

Milind Tiwari

Dr Milind Tiwari is a senior lecturer and researcher in fraud and financial crime at Charles Sturt University. He has extensive experience in AML investigations and has worked with KPMG, EY, and Deloitte in Australia and India. Milind holds a PhD in money laundering, is a Certified Fraud Examiner and CAMS-certified, and researches technological advances in money laundering and detection.

Russell Mills

Russell Mills is a Certified Fraud Examiner with over 30 years’ experience in fraud prevention, investigation, and compliance across law enforcement and the insurance sector. His expertise includes intelligence-led investigations, automated fraud detection, and forensic crash analysis. A frequent international conference speaker, he is also a PhD candidate researching deception through linguistic analysis.
