LAWS77-540: Foundations of Enterprise Governance

Description

Foundations of Enterprise Governance is a compulsory subject in the Master of Laws in Enterprise Governance offered by the Faculty of Law. The subject will examine key elements of the governance framework used by boards and those who report to, and work closely with, boards. Students will be provided with an understanding of how the legal framework interacts with strategy, risk, finance and compliance, together with contemporary issues affecting board performance.

Learning outcomes

  1. Identify and critically analyse how Directors must meet legal, compliance and regulatory requirements in the context of the ethical, social and environmental constraints on enterprises.
  2. Demonstrate adaptive judgment to successfully develop individual governance positions and apply those positions to boardroom scenarios.
  3. Identify and apply enterprise governance theories, skills, and strategies to explore complex boardroom issues and solve challenging enterprise governance problems.
