Research interests
My research focuses on improving educational, workforce and health outcomes through evidence-based approaches in higher education, health professions education and physiotherapy. Across my career, I have developed expertise in educational innovation, professional learning, workforce preparation and rehabilitation, with a particular interest in supporting individuals as they transition through study, work and professional practice.
My current research examines the experiences of university students navigating increasingly complex study and employment environments. This includes research on work-study balance, precarious employment, career development, employability, wellbeing and burnout among students and early-career professionals. I am also investigating neurodiversity in higher education and workplace settings, with a particular focus on the strengths, supports and career experiences of individuals with ADHD.
A key area of my current research involves understanding the impact of precarious employment on young people and identifying strategies that support successful educational and career outcomes. This work is undertaken through collaborations with researchers in psychology, education and workforce development and includes participation in nationally funded research programs.
My previous research has focused on physiotherapy, rehabilitation and health workforce development. I have contributed extensively to research in upper limb rehabilitation, hand therapy, outcome measurement, evidence-based practice and clinical education. I also maintain interests in preparing the future health workforce through innovations in curriculum design, simulation-based learning, interprofessional education, work-integrated learning and professional development.
I collaborate with researchers from Bond University and other national and international institutions across the fields of health professions education, psychology, career development, neurodiversity, rehabilitation and workforce research. These collaborations are united by a shared goal of generating research that informs policy, educational practice and workforce development and ultimately improves outcomes for students, health professionals and the broader community
