• Teams must consist of two students who will act as Senior Counsel and Junior Counsel. A third student may act in the role of Instructing Solicitor.
• Teams should consist of students in Year 11 or Year 12. Year 10 students may however perform the role of Instructing Solicitor.
• The competition is best suited to students considering law as a career, or the study of law within a combined degree program.
• At least one teacher must register with each team.
• Information on team member registrations will be distributed in February 2026.  Further details and the National High School Mooting Competition Rules will also be released at the time.
• The preliminary rounds of the competition will be held virtually over a week using a video-conferencing platform.
• All participants, teachers and coaches will need to be available at the scheduled time to participate.
• The National Grand Final Day will be held on campus at Bond University on the Gold Coast.
• The top eight teams nationally, as determined in accordance with the rules, will be invited to participate in the National Grand Final Day at Bond University.  
• All participants of the teams that progress to the National Grand Final Day and who reside outside of the Southeast Queensland and Northern New South Wales geographical areas will be flown to the National Grand Final Day. Bond will fund the cost of three team members and one teacher from each of these teams.
• If they progress, teachers/coaches must accompany their team to the National Grand Final Day. Each team must be accompanied by a teacher.
• A moot coaching masterclass webinar will be offered to teachers/coaches free of charge as part of their professional development.
• A mooting masterclass will also be held free of charge for all participating students.
• This year the competition will be capped at 80 teams, and registration will be on a first-come-first-served basis.
• Registrations will also be limited to one team per school (or, if the school has more than one campus, one team per campus).
