Bond University Women's Network

Welcome

The Bond University Women's Network (BUWN) aims to:

Empower the women at Bond to connect and make a difference, instilling a sense of compassion, care, community and respect at Bond University.

Find out more about the structure and purpose of the BUWN by reading our terms of reference or view a copy of the 2017 BUWN Activity Report.

From the Chair

We seek to be an inclusive network of women, and those who value and respect women. We aim to empower the women to connect and make a difference, instilling a sense of compassion, care and community as respected and valued members of the Bond Community.  BUWN endeavours to achieve this by supporting and assisting women with their own development, as well as providing a forum to promote all causes for the betterment of women and families.

Most importantly, we celebrate women for all that they are and for all that they do. We know that Bond women already understand the importance of education as a means of empowering women, so an important part of our agenda is the provision of awareness raising and networking opportunities which enable our women to better fulfil their full potential.

BUWN endeavours to support and inspire each other by sharing our journeys, education and experiences. We encourage all members of the Bond community to join our membership.

Our website and Facebook site will provide a hub for the sharing of all of the interests of women from the Bond community, including local community events. We encourage you to provide us with feedback and forward information about any events that you would like to share.

BUWN Theme for 2018

Our ‘Resilience’ theme for 2017 was well represented by the vibrant and inspirational women at the various events held throughout the year. Consistent with the theme, our speakers educated, provided insight and inspiration to our BUWN members and the greater community. We witnessed strong women who, despite the challenges they faced, have created successful lives and used the skills and knowledge gained to empower and support women, men and children.

'Gratitude' is our theme for 2018.  ‘Gratitude’ is one of the pillars of ‘Resilience’ and the BUWN will explore the effect of gratitude in our series of events in 2018.

Our first event of 2018 is the International Women’s Day Cocktail Reception on Thursday, 8 March and we will take this opportunity to celebrate the women in our lives who have been instrumental to our growth and who have been there to support and encourage us to shine. We are looking forward to showcasing the extraordinary women amongst us, from well known industry leaders to those who quietly work around us effecting change in more subtle ways.

We are most grateful for the support of our members in 2017 and we look forward to yet another exceptional year for BUWN in 2018.
