COVID-19 (coronavirus): Latest advice for the Bond community.

Mentoring Program

Real student support from anywhere in the world

Starting at university can be stressful, especially as an interstate or international student during this time. The Bond Business Mentoring Program provides new undergraduate students with academic staff and senior student mentors in small groups, helping them meet new friends, transition into the Bond community and tap into the extensive resources available.

With classes in May delivered remotely, Bond Business School will be using technology and online tools to take the mentor program global, allowing new undergraduate students to receive personalised mentorship from all over the world.

The program will be highly personalised and interactive, with Zoom calls and Facebook groups utilised to connect students with each other and their mentors.

Mentoring sessions are held fortnightly on Wednesdays via Zoom, commencing week one.

Attendance at these sessions will put you in the running for prizes and of course Beyond Bond Points.

Week 1: Meet your mentors - an online networking event with all new Bondies and our Academic and student Mentors, held on Wednesday at 1pm AEST.

Week 2: Using your time well - online workshop.

Week 3:  The power of an effective team. Building relationships that work in a virtual world, understanding the tools available and a team challenge to complete!

Week 4: Exam success tips and showing off the application of knowledge via case study questions

Week 5: Student Mentor led session.

Week 6: Question and answer and understanding Beyond Bond

Week 7: Presenting online and a virtual public speaking team challenge

Week 8: Utilising feedback and the power of a Pivot!

Week 9: Covid update and looking towards next semester and enrolments

Week 10: Question and answer session

Week 11: Student run session

Week 12: Finishing strong - Question and answer

We have added some extras this semester to stay connected, so on even weeks ie 2,4,6, 8, 10 and 12, we will have a skills and tips workshop via zoom. These sessions will be recorded if you can't make it and added to our iLearn site. Attendance is voluntary and should be very useful, but is not being used for Beyond bond points.

Every week we will also have a Netflix Watch Party, where students nominate the movies and times. You will need to use Google Chrome for this.

For more information on the schedule please contact Karin Hanna, Head of Student Mentoring [email protected]

For students who struggle in their first semester of study, the Bond Business School offers a pastoral care program to provide structured individual support on a fortnightly basis from semester two onwards. You will meet one-on-one with an academic mentor who will help you develop and monitor an individual action plan for your success. Academic learning support workshops are also provided to build academic skills.

International students are provided with an additional international mentor, who will support them with challenges relating to language or culture. You will be able to meet one-on-one with the international mentor at your discretion.

For May 2020 semester, these one-on-one mentoring sessions will be held virtually.
