General English students are tested on their English level every 5 weeks. Students are tested on the four macro-skill areas of reading, writing, listening and speaking. Grammar and pronunciation competencies are assessed during these tests.
Results and feedback are provided during class in weeks 5 and 10 of the course. Students will be informed of their strengths and weaknesses and advised if they can move up a level. On average, students move up a level every 10 weeks.
Teachers will refer students to the Coordinator – English Language Programs if students are not making acceptable progress. The Coordinator – English Language Programs is also available to counsel students if they need guidance as to why they are not progressing.
If you have any questions regarding your assessment and progress, please contact your teacher in the first instance, followed by the Coordinator – English Language Programs.
