Professional biography

I am an Adjunct Associate Professor at Bond University, previously a Lecturer in Mathematics at Queensland University of Technology and Associate Professor (Mathematics & Computation) at Bond University.

Academic qualifications are in Mathematics, Physics & Computer Science. My PhD is in nonlinear integer programming.

A varied scientific career including areas such as solar energy, technical engineering software for Queensland electricity authorities, and cryptographic software engineering.

Over the past 25 years, I have been active in consulting work and developed several mathematical models for aspects of Keno.

Current research interests relate to the use of modern spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel in mathematics education.

In 2002 I established the present open access electronic journal Spreadsheets in Education, which publishes fully peer-reviewed research articles plus classroom resources for teachers and students and in 2009 I was awarded an Australian Federal Citation for Teaching Excellence.
