Professional biography

Professor Scott Holmes B.Com (UoN) PhD (ANU) is currently professor of Business and Risk Analysis at Bond University.

Prior to joining Bond he was Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor and before that was Deputy Vice-Chancellor – Research, Engagement, International and Development and Dean of Business at Western Sydney University. He has held senior positions at Newcastle University and QUT and advised all three tiers of government.

In 1999 he established the first Australian fully online education model that has 4,500 students. In 2006 in recognition of this achievement he was awarded the Best Entrepreneurial Educator of the Year by the Business Higher Education Roundtable.

In 2011/12 he designed and supported the delivery of a financial management program delivered to 7,500 clinical managers in NSW Health for which in 2012 he received the Newcastle Innovation Award for Excellence in Innovation.

Scott has published eight books and over 60 research papers. He has pioneered the use of factor maps to gauge perceptions of the economy which can be applied to feedback on online and related learning models. This resulted in he’s most recent book published by Routledge Press – Small Business Exposed – The Tribes that Drive Economies.

He is a Life Member of the Small Enterprise Association of Australia and New Zealand for he’s work on firm decision making and uncertainty.
