Review & Appeals

Before you submit a request for review or appeal of a university decision

As a student, you may request a review of or submit an appeal against a university decision that adversely affects you. The types of decisions that can be reviewed and appealed include:

  • A misconduct decision (a decision made in accordance with Division 2 or 3 of the Discipline Regulations)
  • An administrative decision (for example, denial of waiving academic or financial penalties, denying a letter of release, scholarship termination)
  • An academic decision other than exclusion (for example, review of results)
  • An academic progress decision (a decision to exclude a student in accordance with Clause 59 & 83(3) of the Academic Regulations)

As an applicant to a program, you may submit an appeal against a university decision relating to non-academic matters. Unsuccessful entry into a program due to failing to meet entry requirements is not appealable.

Has the original decision process (and, where appropriate, a review of the decision) been completed?

The process has been completed when you have received a written outcome notifying you of the original decision or the review of the decision with advice on the correct avenue for further reviewing or appealing the decision.

Am I within the time limit to submit a request for review or appeal?

In most cases, a review or appeal can be undertaken if you submit your application within 14 semester days of receiving the previous decision. Check University Regulations or contact the decision maker if you are unsure.
