Where young talent meets the big screen
The BUFTA Film Festival is Bond University Film and Television Academy’s newest event, created to build on the legacy of the prestigious BUFTA Awards and offer an exciting new platform for young filmmakers to share their work with the wider community. It is an inspiring evening dedicated to showcasing the creativity, passion and storytelling of some of the best emerging high school filmmakers from across Australia and around the world.
Held annually at Bond University, the festival brings together students, families, teachers, industry professionals and film lovers to recognise and support the next generation of creative talent. At the heart of the event is the screening of the Top 27 nominated short films from the BUFTA competition that year, representing a wide variety of genres and perspectives. From light-hearted comedies to powerful dramas and bold experimental films, the festival offers audiences a variety of stories that entertain, challenge and inspire.
Beyond the screenings, the BUFTA Film Festival also provides an important opportunity to engage with the broader screen community through interactive technology displays, audience voting for the People’s Choice Award, and networking with peers and industry professionals. With the support of our valued industry partners and sponsors, the festival continues to grow as a platform that connects education with the screen industry. Together, these elements create an inspiring and dynamic evening that brings the community together and celebrates the passion, talent and creativity of young filmmakers.
