Preparing for the National High School Mooting Competition
We look forward to welcoming your school to the National High School Mooting Competition – an incredible experience for Year 11 and 12 students that builds confidence, hones key public speaking, debate and legal skills, fosters relationships with students from around Australia, and provides you with insight into life and study at Bond University.

About the event
To help you and your school prepare for the big day, here’s a rundown of the National High School Mooting Competition to familiarise yourself with.Â

Pre-event
Ahead of the competition, you’ll need to finalise your team, which must consist of two or three students and a teacher or coach. All students must be in Years 11 or 12 (or Year 10 for the role of Instructing Solicitor), with a preference for team participants to have a genuine interest in pursuing a law degree. Only one team per school can be registered, however if you are interested in entering two teams, please let us know and your second team will be added to a waitlist on the occasion spaces become available. Â
Our Mooting Masterclass webinars will be available to educators and students ahead of the competition, and is a fantastic resource packed with tips and tricks for virtual moots.

Preliminary rounds
The competition, until the grand final round, will be held virtually using a video-conferencing platform. All teachers, coaches and student participants must be available at the scheduled date and time to participate live. The best eight teams nationally, as determined by the judges, will be invited to participate in the semi-finals. The preliminary rounds will be held over a week.

Grand finals
Teams that are selected to participate in the National Grand Final of the competition must be available to travel to Bond University on the Gold Coast, Queensland, on the nominated grand final date. All teams must be accompanied by at least one teacher or coach.
