Since 2018 BUHMUN has embraced a challenge set forth by the United Nations to support UN values and the Sustainable Development Goals. In 2024, BUHMUN will continue this tradition
Climate change has far-reaching consequences, impacting population displacement and exacerbating social and economic inequalities. This topic will delve into the intersection between climate change, forced migration, and the unequal distribution of resources and opportunities. Delegates will explore policy measures and collaborative efforts to address these challenges within the framework of SDG13 and SDG10.
- One in six people worldwide experience discrimination in some form, with women, and people with disabilities disproportionately affected.
- 2022 witnessed the highest number of refugees (34.6 million) ever document
- Reducing inequalities requires equitable resources distribution, investment in education and skills development, implementing social protection measures, combatting discrimination, supporting marginalised groups, and fostering international cooperation for fair trade and financial systems.

- The pace and scale of current climate action plans are wholly insufficient to effectively tackle climate change. Increasingly frequent and intense extreme weather events are impacting every region on earth.
- To limit global warming to 1.5ºC above pre-industrial levels, emissions must already be decreasing and need to be cut by almost half in seven years.
- Urgent and transformative action is crucial, going beyond mere plans and promises. It requires raising ambition, covering entire economies and moving towards climate-resilient development.

Committee rooms
The BUHMUN committee system accommodates individual and double delegations. A double delegation will have two students represent the same country over within a committee. Each delegation, regardless of size, is expected to submit one position paper addressing the committee topics to be eligible for a BUHMUN award.
