Bull Sharks eye GPS before road trip

A clean sweep across all grades last week capped by a thrilling after-the-bell win for our Premier Men. But that was at home. An away trip to GPS is an altogether different proposition.

Last week

To snatch the win after the full-time siren gives the team more trust and belief in each other.

The Opposition

We lost to GPS earlier in the year, so we need to be very careful of them. They have a strong set piece and good game controllers, so we will need to dominate possession to lessen the strengths of their team.

The Challenge

The battle of the forwards.

Shuffling the magnets

We are likely to have two Reds players come into our forward pack, which will provide a boost.

Ones to watch

George Blake and Dane Mason.

The Focus

Our execution in the “A zone”. We need to convert more opportunities that we are creating.

Final words?

GPS at GPS is always a big challenge. You are competing against the opposition on-field and a hostile crowd off the field!

Premier Women with Head Coach Setu Naseri

Last week

Really happy to get back in the winner's circle and get two from two. We scored 140 points across the two guys with zero against. A big weekend of success across the board.

The Opposition

GPS have a pretty strong pack spearheaded by Sereima Leweniqila at number eight. She’s an absolute powerhouse and creates a lot of momentum, so they ride off the back of that. If we let her dominate proceedings, we’re in for a pretty tough day at the office.

Shuffling the magnets

Not too many changes this week. We are waiting to see what happens with the Reds travelling squad to see who gets released.

Ones to watch

We have some that are really consistent; the usual names in Eleisha Godsiff, Karlee Cruikshank, Mahlia Snowden and Michelle Curry. Eva Butler is also a bit of an unsung hero for us. She's carried a massive load, given injuries to our props. Eva has had shoulder a lot of responsibility in playing both sides of the scrum, which is not an easy skill to do. She’s also juggling final year of uni on top of all that.

The focus

Being a little bit more accurate in terms of our execution in the contact area, so fine tuning our collisions, especially around the breakdown. And then just some of our tackling being a little bit better in our execution, especially playing a big pack. We’re, not the biggest team but aren’t shy in putting our bodies on the line for each other, so we just want to make sure that we're across that detail.

Final words

It’s the same goal every week - chasing five points. Both teams are playing back-to-back in the morning so we'll be looking to get maximum point efforts across both games this weekend.

Colts 1 with Head Coach Adam Fahey

Last week

It was tough, and we made it harder than it had to be after leading 35-0, but we got there in the end.

The challenge

We need to play for the full 70 minutes, not drop our standards and cruise through to the end of the game. We need to make sure that we're constantly on our game, playing rugby the whole time.

Shuffling the magnets

There are a couple of positive ins - Daniel Wells and Ky Morris will come back in.

Ones to watch

Matt Smith and Max Angove will come into the starting lineup and will press a claim for a starting spot into the future.

The focus

Just getting out backyard in order, and our detail right. We want to put in a good performance away from home.

Final Words

Hopefully we can put in a good performance away from home and our reward will be enjoying a well-deserved week off with the bye the following week.
