About the program
The Bond University Rugby Pathway to Premier program is a development program aimed to introduce players to the on field / off field standards and training habits required to compete at the elite levels of rugby. The program is designed for rugby players aged 15 – 18 years, from Queensland’s Gold Coast and the Far North Coast region of New South Wales. The program’s goal is to better prepare players for junior representative honours and ultimately compete in premier rugby and beyond.
The program is an inclusive program and open to players from state high schools, junior rugby clubs, APS schools, The Southport School and players from the Far North Coast of New South Wales. The program operates for 10 months of the year, through off season, pre-season and in season, with an emphasis on strength, conditioning and skills development, depending on the time of the year.
The program includes:
- introductory and advanced strength programs tailored to each player’s needs
- professional coaching
- position specific coaching (with specialist coaches)
- education sessions covering nutrition, goal setting, leadership etc.
Brenden Jones is the Head Coach of the Premier Pathway program. Brendan has been a professional coach for 15 years. Programs Brendan has coached in include; Brisbane Boys College, St Edmunds Ipswich, RugbyTek Academy and Western District Rugby Club (Brisbane).
Other Bond University Rugby Club coaches, including 1st Grade Coaches Grant Anderson and Ray Thomas will be available for sessions throughout the year.
