I am currently in Australia. Can I come to campus?
We are looking forward to students safely joining us on campus where possible for face-to-face classes, especially for small group instruction (tutorials, seminars, workshops and lab sessions). There will continue to be some subjects and programs where we will augment face-to-face subject delivery with some aspects of the subject being delivered remotely. For those who cannot attend, you will still experience Bond's standout student experience through our multi-modal class delivery.
I’m overseas and unable to travel to Australia at this time. Can I start my studies at Bond remotely?
We understand there will be some students who will not be able to travel to the Gold Coast for the beginning of the next semester. The University is committed to continuing a multi-modal approach to teaching in 2022, meaning students can begin their studies, including all assessments, on campus and/or remotely.
There may be circumstances where certain programs are not available remotely – please refer to your preferred program's webpage to confirm it is being delivered in a multi-modal format.
How long will remote learning be available for?
Multi-modal delivery of classes is temporary, but we are committed to continuing to offer flexible learning options throughout 2022 and while Australian border restrictions remain in place.
What technology do I need to be able to study remotely?
The most important thing is that you have access to a personal computer, laptop or tablet, as well as a reliable internet connection. As a Bond student, you will have access to our University ‘Blackboard’ online learning platform, iLearn, which has a built-in interactive online classroom feature called Collaborate. We recommend using Chrome.
How do I access Collaborate?
You can access Collaborate through your iLearn Student Portal – you don’t need to download it. You will join sessions directly from a web link provided by your lecturer, or from your subject page in iLearn.
How will assessments and group projects work?
Assessments will continue to be tailored to remote learning, ensuring assessments remain engaging, authentic and rigorous. They will be a mix of online tests, take-home examinations and alternative assessments.
Technology and tools such as Collaborate – which allows for break-out rooms for group work – Microsoft Teams via Office 365 and other technological tools will support productive, seamless group project work.
How do I book an online appointment with the Academic Skills Centre?
Bond’s Academic Skills Centre offers a range of services including free one-on-one help in organising your assignments, academic writing style, referencing, English and Maths. You can book an online appointment with the Academic Skills Centre online via your iLearn student account. Alternatively, you can book by emailing [email protected].
How do I contact my lecturer?
At the start of the semester, you will be provided with the contact details for your lecturers and Faculty staff. You can contact them directly. You can find the contact details for your academic or Faculty staff via the Staff Directory.
How do I book an appointment with counselling?
Medical and counselling services provided by Bond University will continue to be available on a bulk-billing basis for eligible students and where possible has been expanded to allow remote (tele health) consultations. Students located in Australia can access counselling support through Bond – email [email protected] to book an appointment. For students located overseas, we encourage you to contact counselling support in your home country.
If travel restrictions change during the semester, can I come to campus?
Should travel restrictions change during the semester, the University will allow students to return to campus-based education as quickly as possible.
What additional support will be available for students who are studying remotely?
The University is very aware that the remote delivery of your subjects using technology must meet your expectations of Bond’s high standards of teaching, learning, resources, support and student welfare. This alternative format for the delivery of our classes will be accompanied by a range of services consistent with the high standards we expect of ourselves in relation to your experience.
For instance - we will provide:
- Study assistance and support sessions;
- Private online academic consultations;
- Additional online academic resources;
- Careers advice;
- Enhanced Information Technology Services help-line services;
- Greater access to online library services;
- Online social events; and
- Advice and support for administrative, enrolment and other services.

What resources and services are available from the Library?
The Library has an extensive collection of online resources including ebooks and journals, which you will be able to access from wherever you are located.
The Library team also provides virtual services to support you with your questions and assignments. You can reach out to the team in a number of ways, including online chat and consultations, as well as referring to help resources and FAQs. Visit the Library’s website to search for resources, use virtual services and get contact information.
What are the latest interstate travel restrictions? Do they affect me?
To slow the spread of COVID-19 the Queensland Government has, from time to time, restricted entry into the State. For more information including quarantine requirements, visit the Queensland Government website.
I am relocating to the Gold Coast from a current hotspot in Australia. Will I be allowed to enter Queensland?
According to Part 3A of the Queensland Border Restrictions Direction (No. 40), students who are relocating to Queensland from a hotspot may be permitted to enter Queensland if they comply with all directions outlined on the Queensland Government website. One of these directions includes the submission of an additional document: a statement from an educational institution, on the institution's letterhead, confirming your enrolment in a university in Queensland.

When is the Census Date?
The Census Date is four weeks after the semester starts.
I am an interstate student and am needing to relocate to Queensland to study on campus at Bond. Is there any financial assistance available to me?
Study Gold Coast has introduced Your Next Move, a student accommodation grant that makes it as easy as possible for students currently in Australia to relocate to the Gold Coast.
Australia is an inclusive and welcoming country. The Gold Coast is home to 32,000 international students from more than 130 countries, and has earned a reputation as Australia’s favourite classroom for international students. Bond University is also renowned for its global cohort and perspective, Almost 50 per cent of students are international, hailing from more than 90 countries. We look forward to welcoming international students back to campus, and the Gold Coast, as soon as possible.
What are the latest travel restrictions and how do they affect me?
The Australian Government has announced that, from 15 December 2021, fully vaccinated student visa holders can travel to Australia without needing to apply for a travel exemption. And the Queensland Government have announced from 1am AEST Saturday 22 January, fully vaccinated international student visa holders are welcome to return. Learn more.
I am interstate and need to relocate to Queensland to study on campus at Bond. Is there any financial assistance available to me?
Study Gold Coast has introduced Your Next Move, a student accommodation grant that makes it as easy as possible for students currently in Australia to relocate to the Gold Coast. The grant includes 10 weeks accommodation in the city. Spaces are limited, so we encourage you to apply now.
I am onshore in Australia, but not on the Gold Coast. Do I have to move to the Gold Coast to commence my studies on campus?
Students who are currently in Australia and are able to relocate to the Gold Coast are recommended to complete their classes face-to-face. Some programs within the Faculty of Health Sciences and Medicine require mandatory on-campus attendance.
Do I need a visa to start studying remotely?
Yes, students currently outside of Australia are recommended to submit their visa application as soon as they have the required supporting documentation, for example health check, English language testing and evidence of financial capacity.
Students do not need a visa if they are offshore and studying remotely (online) with an Australian education provider, however all students are required to have a student visa to enter Australia.
The Australian government has recommenced granting student visas for applications lodged outside of Australia. This will ensure that when borders re-open, students will immediately be able to make travel arrangements.
If you are currently in Australia, you must not allow your student visa to lapse, even if you are studying remotely. You should submit your visa application to the Department of Home Affairs immediately.
I have a visa to start next semester, but I am not in Australia. Do I need to apply for a new visa if I come to campus at a later date?
You will be able to enter Australia for future semesters on your original visa that was granted as long as the visa remains valid. We recommend that you check your visa is valid at least a month before travelling. If you have a COE for a later start, your visa is likely to remain valid, but as always, check with Australian immigration directly. Before your visa expiry date, you may need to apply for a new student visa to ensure you have a valid visa to complete your studies and graduate.
Will my visa status be affected if I am already in Australia and study remotely for my first semester?
No. Australia’s Department of Home Affairs does not regulate mode of study requirements for international students. In addition, due to COVID-19 restrictions, TEQSA (the national quality assurance and regulatory agency for higher education in Australia) has advised that a wholly online or distance learning mode is permitted when it’s in the student’s best interests.
Will remote (online) study be counted towards my eligibility to apply for a Temporary Graduate (subclass 485) visa (Post Study Work Visa) following completion of my studies?
The Australian Department of Home Affairs will be making changes to eligibility for subclass 485 visas for those impacted by COVID-19. Studies undertaken outside of Australia as a result of COVID-19 travel restrictions will count towards the Australian Study Requirement for existing and new student visa holders. However, in order to meet this requirement, you must hold a student visa.

Students who are overseas are recommended to submit their visa application as soon as they have the required supporting documentation.
Can I receive a refund for my studies if I am no longer able to start?
Bond University will guarantee a full refund of the tuition fee deposit paid by a student if they no longer wish to start their program and notify us prior to the Monday of the first formal teaching week. This refund policy only applies to programs without a restricted student capacity.
I have paid for Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) starting from January. How do I receive a refund if I am not able to arrive in Australia to study due to travel restrictions?
You must have a valid OSHC policy in place in order to apply for your student visa, even if you will be commencing your studies remotely. If you have an unused portion of OSHC for the period you were studying offshore, you can claim an OSHC refund from your provider once you come to Australia. If you are unable to commence study with us at all and you are still offshore, we can refund your OSHC with your tuition fees. If you have been onshore in Australia at any point, you will need to seek a refund of your OSHC from your OSHC provider directly.
I’m no longer able to take a formal English test (i.e. IELTS or TOEFL) as testing centres are closed. What are my options?
We understand English Language Test Centres are closed in many countries and we may be able to assist you with alternative arrangements for you to satisfy Bond’s entry requirements, depending on your circumstances. Please contact your Regional Manager to discuss options.
In order to obtain a student visa, you will still be required to provide a formal English language proficiency test (IELTS, TOEFL, PTE) if evidence of your English language proficiency is requested. Additional time will be granted for applicants to provide English language test results, biometrics and health checks where COVID-19 has impacted services. Timeframes are up to 90-days but the Department will be considerate and flexible if country restrictions prohibit this.
My school has been closed and I cannot access my formal school results or transcripts. Will you accept other documents instead?
We understand that sourcing certified academic results may be difficult at this time. Our Admissions team can consider alternative documents so that we can continue to assess your application and issue you an offer. If you have questions about your documents, please contact your Regional Manager.
I live in a different time zone. When will my classes be?
The timetabling for the upcoming semester is being finalised, and class times will vary by program and the location of the program's student cohort. You will receive more information when it is time to enrol and confirm your timetable.
I am an international student located overseas. How can I access counselling support?
Due to legal and health practitioner requirements, Bond University counsellors cannot offer remote counselling services to students located overseas. If you are an international student commencing your studies overseas, we encourage you to contact counselling services in your area for support.

What are the key dates for the next semester?
Enrolment through eStudent will be available on 22 November for students to finalise their enrolment.
Orientation will begin on 11 January, with classes commencing on 17 January. A normal 12-week teaching semester will follow.

Can I live on campus?
We recognise that due to border restrictions, some students may not be able to travel to campus for the semester. If a student cannot take up their place in on-campus housing due to COVID-19 border restrictions, the room fee and balance of the dining plan will be refunded.

What do I need to know about 2022 tuition fees?

Will the Student Services and Amenities Fee be levied?
Regardless of whether students are studying remotely or on campus, all Bond students have access to an extensive range of support services, including employment and career advice, student advocacy and legal services, and more. Students can access all services remotely. These services are supported by the Student Services and Amenities Fee, which will be levied in the upcoming semester. For those unable to study on-campus due to border and travel restrictions imposed by Government, the 2022 Student Services and Amenities Fee will be set at the part-time rate. Eligibility to apply for the part-time rate is based on travel restrictions, if applicable. Learn more and apply here.

What I do if I have COVID?
The Queensland Government provides information in relation to COVID-19 on their website.
The University will work with you to put in place a plan to support your studies. If you have COVID-19, you must inform the University by emailing CV Support. Students who knowingly attend campus during a period when they are required to self-isolate will be in breach of the University's regulations.
If you are staying in on-campus accommodation and are required to isolate support will be provided, including providing food services to your room while you are in isolation, providing telehealth medical services, welfare support and Rapid Antigen Testing (if needed). Please email CV Support.
