The Bond Medical Program* is comprised of two sequential degrees, Bachelor of Medical Studies and Doctor of Medicine.

All students who pass the Bachelor of Medical Studies are automatically eligible to enrol in the Doctor of Medicine.

You must complete both components to complete the Medical Program and to qualify as a medical practitioner.

Each year, up to 200 domestic places can be offered into the Medical Program for May and September semester; 80% places for undergraduate applicants and 20% to graduate applicants.

No, work experience and personal statements are not considered as part of the admission criteria.

No. We are bound by privacy legislation to only provide information about an application directly to the applicant.

In accordance with Bond University’s Privacy Policy (Privacy Policy INF 6.5.1.pdf), personal information may be disclosed to a specified third party only when there is written authority and consent from the student concerned to release specific information. This consent can be given through QTAC by listing an authorised contact in your application, or by emailing us at [email protected].

The Faculty of Health Sciences & Medicine will not enter into any discussions regarding individual applications. Bond University Future Students team will not be able to provide information regarding your QTAC application academic assessment or status. Please contact QTAC if you need to confirm or have any questions regarding the academic assessment or status of your Bond Medical program application. Please contact QTAC directly to discuss your preference order if you have applied to other institutions. It is important to note that Bond must be placed as your first preference by the time our applications close for you to be considered.

You can nominate your preferred intake, May or September, when completing your QTAC application. It is recommended that you list both intakes on your application in your preferred order, provided you are prepared to commence in either, as change-of-intake requests cannot be accommodated.

If you need to add or change an intake on your QTAC application, contact QTAC before the application closing date, as you may not be able to make changes after the deadline.

The final cut-off will depend on the quality of the applicant pool in the year of your application. In 2025, the cut off for undergraduate was 96.75 and 98.50 for graduate.

Adjustment factors cannot be used for the Bond Medical Program*.

As a minimum, you will need a GPA of at least 6.0 on a seven-point scale over one year of full-time equivalent study in a recognised program to be considered for the Bond Medical Program*. Demand for places is extremely high, so applicants achieving only the minimum GPA are unlikely to progress their application. The final cut-off will depend on the strength of the applicant pool in the year of your application.

QTAC will assess your GPA and determine your academic rank for you.

The Bond Medical Program* is administered through QTAC. A full assessment of your qualifications will be undertaken by QTAC once a complete application is submitted during the relevant application period.

Your home (or current) institution will be able to advise you of the amount of full time equivalent (FTE) study you have completed (or will have likely completed), and for which documented evidence can be provided, by the time applications close.

One way to improve your competitiveness is to undertake further study and increase your GPA. Please refer to the entry assessment table for more information.

If your Year 12 results are not competitive, you may wish to consider enrolling in an undergraduate program, such as Bond’s Bachelor of Biomedical Science. Please refer to the entry assessment table for more information.

Bond University’s Bachelor of Medical Studies (BMedSt) and Doctor of Medicine (MD) are integrated, sequential degrees. As a result, we do not offer credit or exemptions for previous tertiary studies, including studies completed in medicine or other degree programs at any university.

If your Honours program is predominantly a research-based program (more than two-thirds research), we cannot use your Honours program GPA to calculate a rank.

QTAC will convert your overseas qualifications to an Australian equivalent using the guidelines set by NOOSR (the National Office of Overseas Skills Recognition). Where you have an overseas qualification that is likely to be used as the basis of your academic assessment, please contact QTAC's Assessment of Qualifications Service for more information.

Applicants must be able to produce documentary evidence of meeting the prerequisite to QTAC by the time applications close for the relevant application period.

No. Bond University does not use the Undergraduate Medicine Admission Test (UMAT) or the University Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT ANZ) for admission to the Bachelor of Medical Studies program.

Yes, in addition to our Open Days each year, we host Medical Program Webinars (online information sessions), usually in November and January. Please check the Important dates and deadlines page for upcoming dates. Registration is essential.

Information about your Bond Medical Program* status will be available by checking your QTAC application portal. 

If you are successful in gaining an invitation for psychometric testing, you will receive an email from the testing provider requesting that you to book a time to complete your testing under supervision. After booking your appointment for testing, we encourage applicants to complete the recommended technical checks, prior to the day of testing. This will help to reduce technical difficulties on your testing day.

Psychometric testing is completed fully online. No preparation is required for the psychometric testing. It is best to just be yourself and respond honestly. We recommend that you are well-rested and free from distractions. You will complete your assessments under examination conditions. This means you will be supervised by a proctor via your webcam while you complete the psychometric testing.

Before your appointment time, you should prepare your space for examination conditions (i.e. make sure there are no papers or notes on your desk, that your other electronic devices are out of reach, and other people in your house know not to disturb you while you complete the testing). At your scheduled appointment time, you will log in and be connected with the next available proctor. Before testing begins, you will be guided through a series of equipment and connection checks to ensure that your set up is suitable. You will be supported to troubleshoot any issues. You will also complete identity checks and the proctor will verify that your space is set up for exam conditions. For some applicants, pre-test checks can take some time, especially if there are issues with equipment or the connection. Please prepare for the whole testing process to take over 2 hours and allow ample time testing between your appointment and other commitments in case you experience technical difficulties or delays.

Candidates will complete two (2) assessments - an emotional intelligence test and a personality test - in sequence during one sitting. Together, the tests take around 90 minutes to complete, with a maximum time limit of two (2) hours to complete both tests. The 2-hour timer will start when you are given access to the first assessment. 

The test provider will include full instructions and timing details in the invitation email. It is important to take the time to familiarise yourself with the information provided.

Although there are services that claim to help applicants prepare for interviews and psychometric testing, Bond University does not endorse their use.

In order for your supervisor to observe you, you will also need a webcam, microphone and speaker as well as access to a strong internet connection. You will need access to a laptop or desktop computer (the tests cannot be completed on a mobile device) with an up-to-date Windows or MacOS operating system. You will be provided with further instructions about preparing your computer in the invitation email if you are invited for psychometric testing. We suggest you complete a systems check prior to the day of your testing.

You will complete the assessments under examination conditions. This means you will need to clear your space to remove any distractions such as notes, paper, books and other devices (like your mobile phone). Please inform others in your household that you cannot be disturbed to ensure that you are free from interruptions.

An update to the Psychometric Test used by Bond University has been implemented. Applicants who completed psychometric testing prior to October 2025 will be required to complete psychometric testing, as previous results are no longer valid.

If you have completed the current versions of the required tests, your result is valid for 24 months. You will not be able to choose to re-sit the assessment if you have a valid test result available.

The psychometric testing assesses stable traits that should not be assessed frequently to maintain the integrity of the tests.

If you are successful in progressing to the psychometric testing stage, your QTAC status will reflect this. If you have a valid test result available, you will receive a notification that you have been selected for psychometric testing but will not need to complete the test. If you do not have a valid test result for the current round of psychometric testing, you will receive an invitation to make a booking to complete the testing.

Your application is treated as a new application each year, and your results are assessed against the current applicant pool. The same outcome is not guaranteed. You will be eligible for an interview if your psychometric results are competitive within the current applicant pool.

Yes, each candidate will be required to pay the fee set by the test administrator. This includes proctoring services, which means a real person will supervise your testing in real time via your webcam. The cost of testing in 2025 was $346.50 (GST inclusive).

For all technical issues faced during the psychometric test, please contact the testing provider. Their details will be provided on the invitation to psychometric testing.

Interpreting the results of the selected tests requires specific expertise and training. Bond University does not provide individual reports during the selection process.

The results of the psychometric test determine eligibility for an interview as the next step in the assessment process.

To qualify, applicants must have their residential address in the Richmond-Tweed region. You may be requested to verify this information. Check your eligibility below based on your current residential address:

All candidates will be ranked for interview based on their Psychometric Test (Stage 2 of Bond’s 4-Stage Selection Process). Bond University aims to allocate 40% of interview invitations to applicants from the community that we live and train in - Queensland (QLD) and the Tweed community.

Applicants who are invited to interview will receive all relevant information throughout the interview process.

Like the psychometric testing, you cannot prepare for the interview, and although there are services that claim to help applicants prepare for interviews and psychometric testing, we do not endorse their use.

Interviews are conducted online only.

Approximately 90 minutes, including registration and debriefing.

No, the interviewers will not have your results.

Successful applicants will be notified with an offer from QTAC as well as with a formal Letter of Offer from Bond University.

Please be aware that deferrals for this program are not permitted. If you believe you have exceptional circumstances beyond your control that prevent you from starting please provide evidence of these circumstances directly to the Faculty via [email protected]. All successful applicants are expected to commence their studies on the scheduled start date. If you are unable to accept your offered place, you are welcome to re-apply at any future time.

Change of intake requests for the Bond Medical Program* cannot be accommodated.  Successful applicants who are unable to accept their offered place are welcome to re-apply at any future time.

Bond University is an approved private higher education provider that offers Commonwealth assistance via FEE-HELP.

In 2025, the combined FEE-HELP loan limit for students in Bond’s Medical Program is $182,172. FEE-HELP can be used to cover tuition fees until the limit is reached, after which you will be required to pay tuition fees directly to Bond University at the start of each semester.

No other financial assistance options are available to help cover the total cost of the Medical Program.

Yes. There are mandatory sessions during Orientation Week (“O Week”) – including the compulsory compliance appointment.

The Medical Program is delivered through small group, problem-based learning within an integrated curriculum. Cases are introduced at the start of each week and as a result, the timetable is dynamic and is released on the weekend for students to prepare. Each day will vary depending on scheduled activities; however, classes generally begin around 8am or 9am and finish around 4pm or 5pm.

As a guide, a typical week for a first-year medical student in first semester will include the following: 4–6 hours of small group learning/problem-based tutorials, 3-4 hours of clinical sessions, 5–6 hours of lectures, 3 hours of lab work, and 2 hours of interactive sessions.

This is referred to as a 'Leave of Absence', and while a ‘Leave of Absence’ is possible, it is usually approved on extenuating circumstances that are beyond your control. This involves a discussion with the Dean of Medicine.

Bond offers a variety of on-campus accommodation options, placing you right in the heart of the University’s vibrant student community. ACCOMMODATION OPTIONS

The Bond University Medical Program* does not participate in the Bonded Medical Places (BMP) Scheme.

The Bond Medical Program* will direct students to the relevant Queensland Health website for information on internship options. All graduating medical students secure their own internship placements in conjunction with Queensland Health.

Internships are offered in public hospitals. In Queensland, a matching system with a lottery is used when programs are oversubscribed. Internship arrangements vary by state. Interns are employees of state health services and are paid.

Bond does not have any overseas fellowship opportunities.

During the first phase (the Bachelor of Medical Studies) students have community-based and hospital/hands-on simulation placements as part of their early learning.

In the second phase (the Doctor of Medicine) students will undertake formal clinical placements across hospital and community health settings, including full rotations through a variety of medical specialties. Some of the specific clinical rotation’s students will do, may include:

• Child Health, Medicine, Mental Health, Surgery, Women’s Health, Advanced Clinical Skills, Community-based placements
• Emergency Medicine, General Practice, Electives, Selected Subspecialty

Clinical rotations include public, private, international and community placement settings.

Applications from academically-qualified students with medical, mental health and/or learning conditions are welcome. All successful applicants must meet the highly-competitive academic criteria, as the Faculty of Health Sciences and Medicine must be confident that all entrants are capable of coping with the high academic rigour of the program. Once selected, assessments will be made about reasonable adjustments that may be possible to allow full participation in the program and achievement of the Graduate Outcomes required by the Australian Medical Council. Applicants with medical, mental health and/or learning conditions are advised to inform us of their situation early in the process.

Domestic and international students who graduate from the following Bond University programs, meeting the minimum required GPA of 3.00 out of 4.00 (Bond grading scale), will be eligible to apply for selection to enter Year 2 of the Bachelor of Medical Studies (BMedSt):

• Bachelor of Biomedical Science (in the Pre-Health Professional major)
• Master of Occupational Therapy
• Doctor of Physiotherapy
• Master of Nutrition and Dietetic Practice

Domestic and international students who graduate from the Master of Healthcare Innovations, who completed a Bachelor of Biomedical Science prior to their Healthcare Innovations award and meet the minimum required GPA of 3.00 out of 4.00 (Bond grading), may also be eligible to apply for selection to enter Year 2 of the Bachelor of Medical Studies (BMedSt). Such eligibility is dependent on a check of transcripts from the Bachelor of Biomedical Science degree to determine eligibility on a case-by-case basis.

The lateral entry process from Bond’s approved pathway programs is a staged selection process. It begins with an expression of interest, where students can submit their interest. Applicants who meet the eligibility requirements are then invited to formally apply. Selection follows a three-step approach: Academic Assessment, Psychometric Test, and Interview.

Applications for Year 2 Lateral Entry usually are opened to current students and graduates of Bond’s approved pathway programs in June and close late September, with psychometric testing and interviews conducted in October. Selection for an offer through the lateral entry pathway is a staged process.

Applicants must meet the minimum academic requirements to advance to the staged selection process. Progression through each stage is contingent upon successful completion of the preceding stage.

Final offer is determined by the interview results only.

Additionally, applicants must satisfy conditions outlined in their final offer.

Currently, the lateral entry pathway is the only option available for international students to enter the Bond Medical Program.

In 2025, approximately 25 students were admitted from Bond pathway programs. Entry is not guaranteed.

Lateral entry places are offered in addition to the 20% graduate spots and are not included in that quota.
