Architectural atmospheres
Creative Design Studio Atmosphere is one of our three foundational undergraduate studios. The 2023 iteration continues to explore experiential and spatial ideas of place, scale, material, light, sound, smell and touch. Students are introduced to an iterative design process focusing on hand drawing, physical 3D models and full-scale prototypes. Design skill workshops on model making, drawing in plan and section, measuring, scale, craft, site and presentation are designed to scaffold learning through making. Students collaboratively work in groups to realise full-scale installations using the FSD workshop and consider the reuse of existing materials to develop circular design thinking.
