Our fast-track trimester timetable makes it easy to tackle a double degree at Bond. In fact, you can complete two degrees here in less time than you could graduate with just one at most other universities.

Bond’s Bachelor of Health Sciences and Master of Nutrition and Dietetic Practice enables you to become an accredited practicing Dietitian (ADP) in just four years of study.  

The Bachelor of Health Sciences is a broad-based degree designed to develop your understanding of applied sciences, including the anatomical, molecular, physiological, and psychological processes of the human body, providing a strong foundation for the Master of Nutrition and Dietetic Practice (MNDP).  

Bond’s Master of Nutrition and Dietetic Practice is the highest-level nutrition and dietetic master’s degree available in Australia. Benefit from the program’s exceptional 20-week research internship with a focus on global nutrition citizenship and gain 24 weeks of practical internship experience in traditional areas of practice such as clinical dietetics. Gain that competitive edge in the job market by completing this AQF extended Level 9 master’s degree in a compact timeframe of two years. Before entering the workforce, students can prepare for the program and accreditation requirements through our program charter.

Studying both programs at Bond will enable you to explore areas of study such as anatomy and physiology, biochemistry, biomechanics, motor learning and control, as well as sports nutrition and exercise prescription and planning for both athletic and non-athletic populations.

About this program

The Bond University Bachelor of Health Sciences is a 2-year accelerated degree designed for students who wish to explore a variety of disciplines in the health sciences, as well as providing a pathway to postgraduate specialised study. During this program, you will gain an understanding of basic and applied sciences including the anatomical, molecular, physiological, and psychological processes of human health and function. The program provides a degree of flexibility, enabling you to select a variety of subjects to explore that best suit your career and study goals. The program focuses on real-world learning, where you will gain exceptional, high-quality practical experience in our health science and human movement laboratories. You will be able to develop and master technical-scientific and research skills using some of the latest research equipment, which can be applied across a broad range of industries. Each laboratory has a maximum capacity – ensuring small group learning and personalised attention. The Bachelor of Health Sciences provides a variety of career opportunities, as well as an accelerated undergraduate pathway to specialised postgraduate study in a number of allied health professions including occupational therapy, nutrition, and dietetics, as well as broader public health programs, healthcare innovations, and the education sector. Students may also choose to complete the optional major in Healthcare Informatics to expand their learning into areas of data analytics and business processes relevant to health systems. In addition, students completing a Bachelor of Health Sciences are ideally positioned to undertake research-based honours studies, leading to a higher degree research program such as a Masters or PhD.

This postgraduate professional program is designed to develop graduates to be work-ready for careers in nutrition and dietetics across practice areas including clinical dietetics, private practice, food service management, public health nutrition, sports nutrition, and nutrition research. This program develops student competencies to exceed the accreditation requirements of the Dietitians Association of Australia, making graduates eligible to apply for accredited practising dietitian (APD) status within the Dietitians Association of Australia. This program is distinctive because of its emphasis on developing evidence-based practitioners that have had intensive preparation in evidence-based dietetic practice, nutrition research, and international engagement. All students will be required to participate in an international placement as part of their program.

  • Year 1

    You will complete three core university subjects, providing you with essential skills in critical thinking, communication, leadership, collaboration and more.

    You will also complete fifteen compulsory subjects from the fields of health sciences, biomedical science, psychology, and nutrition, as well as choosing six directed electives depending on your specific interests.

  • Year 1

    You will gain foundational concepts in nutrition, food science, communication and counselling, nutrition assessment methods and public health nutrition priorities. Develop core dietetic skills such as nutrition advice for chronic disease and acute clinical conditions, food service system management and planning public health nutrition projects.

    Our intensive internship preparation subjects equip you in self-management, professionalism, ethical behaviour, and evidence-based practice.

Graduates of the Bachelor of Health Sciences will be equipped with a broad understanding of anatomical, molecular, physiological, and psychological processes of the human body, providing a strong foundation for the Master of Nutrition and Dietetic Practice.  

Master critical skills

Through extensive, hands-on laboratory training - using some of the latest research equipment including virtual reality and augmented reality technologies - you will develop and master fundamental technical scientific and research skills.

Learn by doing

This practical program is embedded with placements and internship opportunities. You will complete a total of 24 weeks of Professional Placement Internships (including a two-week elective internship in an area of interest), and a 20-week research internship.

Competitive Edge

Graduate sooner and gain a competitive edge in your field by completing this extended Level 9 Master’s degree in just two years. The program is the highest-level Nutrition and Dietetic Master’s degree available in Australia, with graduates being eligible to join Dietitians Australia’s Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) Program and recognised by the US Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics.
